I have a buyer who contacted his bank after paying with an eCheck. It took awhile for the eCheck to clear, and then I shipped the item. Now Paypall has put the funds on hold, and say it could take up to 75 days for them to be unheld. I have provided Paypal with proof of delivery as well as the tracking number.
Is there anyway I can be out the money and item?
The item is being held at the buyers local post office until they pick it up, should I call to have the item returned to sender or should I wait it out?
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Have you called PayPal? If PayPal told you it was okay to ship the item, I'd like to speak to someone about it.

You're covered under Paypal Seller Protection if they sent you the "paid" email and it was marked "eligible".

1. Call PayPal and make sure a human has seen you added tracking proof to the dispute.
2. Reach out to your customer and see why they have not collected the item from thier post office. Make sure they still want the item.
3. If customer no longer wants the item get it sent back to you with the courier and relist it. But I would try to reach out to them before doing that.
On the one time this happened to me on a dlivered item with feedback I reached out to the buyer since they had been happy with the purchase. It appears he did not recognise the charge on his card. But in the end he sided with me and told his bank the charge was okay. It was a slow process funds frozen for about 15 days but I kept the money in the end.
I recommend all sellers hold a few hundred dollars reserve in PayPal in case of these kind of disputes where funds can be frozen till the issue is sorted.

If PayPal rules against you, then you could indeed lose the item, lose the cost of shipping, and be forced to refund.
But you could never lose both the item and the selling price - because you are only entitled to one or the other, not both.

??? Your sentences contradict each other,.. And the seller can lose the item, money, and costs to ship..,. if the item is not returned to the seller.

No the seller is always out the money used to buy the object and ship the object because he is never entitled to both the price paid by the buyer and the item. He is entitled to only one of them. So, the seller has been deprived of the item and shipping/listing costs or deprived of the money from the listing, but not both of them. It does make sense if you think about it.
AHHH, I'VE BEEN CAUGHT BY A NECROTHREAD!
