Buyer Not Returning Item...

So, I need to know what happens if a buyer opens a return for missing parts/not working but hasn't  return the item. They opened a return on Aug 28th, and I accepted and provided a return label August 29th. They also waited a week upon delivery to open this return. 

 

It says if buyer doesn't send item back by Sept 6th, Ebay may close the return. Wondering what that means exactly, because today it's still open. This buyer has been completely silent since opening the return.

 

They also have zero feedback which is a bit unsettling. Am I still responsible for accepting the return, if by chance they still return it?I've never had this happen before and not sure what to think now or what to do.

Buyer Not Returning Item...

You can call Ebay now and have them close the return in your favor due to buyer inaction. Once a buyer accepts the label, they have five business days to get the item in the mail. If they miss that deadline, you can have the return closed.

Yep call and have them close it now while you are on the phone, any Negative/ Neutral feedback will also be removed once a case is found in your favor.

after 45 days it closes in your favor.

i just wait it out.

if they don't send out in a week,not likely they will.

Why in the world would you do that??  If the buyer actually returns it between now and then, and the claim is still open, the seller is likely to have to refund the buyer.  

 

Seems to me the seller is better off to take a few moments, call Ebay and get the claim closed if 5+ business days has passed.  That way it is done with, no need to worry about it anymore and the seller's feedback is protected.  

 

I respect that this may be you way of running your business, but you need to know that you put yourself and the health of your selling account at risk when you do that.

I do the same as martoutlet and have never had a problem because of it.  In those cases the buyer must have changed their mind about returning the item but even if they had mailed it out after the 5 business days, as long as I had the item back in the same condition, I would be fine with it.   Perhaps if a customer had been a problem customer from the start then I might worry about the 'health of my selling account' and have the return closed but otherwise, I choose to not phone ebay unless it is something that I can't deal with on my own.

And both of you have every right to do what works best for you.  Personally I think it is a risk that isn't worth taking.  But I respect your right to do so.

Buyer Not Returning Item...

Be careful, even though Ebay will close the return after a certain date the seller may still send the item and file a chargeback with their credit card company. I had this happen once, the buyer filed with his CC company the moment the package was delivered. I did not even know the package was on the way because the case was closed so he did not get a label through Ebay. I got my product back but was out the $20 chargeback fee.
