So I sold an item to someone a little over a month ago here on ebay. A couple of days ago, they opened a case on PayPal stating that the charge was not legit and wanted their money back. I guess they claimed that their card was stolen and the charges were not their own. My money was put on hold so I called up Paypal and had them release the funds since I obviously shipped the item and it was received by the buyer. Here's the kicker, I know the person that bought from me. She is in a facebook group with me. I know that she got the item I sold her and that it was a legit purchase. She also left me positive feedback stating that she loved her item. Why on earth would she open a case like that and then leave me positive feedback right afterwards? It seems like if she was trying to run a scam, she wouldn't leave feedback stating she liked her item, right? I know people are pretty stupid but wow. I really want to message her and ask her what her deal is but my concern is that she will somehow be able to take revenge on me or my account if I do. Is this at all possible? I have blocked her from buying from me again (of course she could have another account). This whole thing has me baffled. I reported her to ebay and let the rep from Paypal that I talked to on the phone know as many details as I could. She agreed with me that it was a likely scam. CC fraud is rampant. People have no morals! I really just want to see this woman pay for her crimes. I am sure I am not the only one she did this to. Any advice is welcome. I also just wanted to vent because this whole thing has been bothering me since it happened.

Why?
She may have forgotten she bought the Thing or she may not have recognized the name on her credit card slip.
I believe that if a 'guest bidder' uses a cc directly all her card bill will say is "paypal".
Block her and move on.
It is likely that you won the PP case and she did not get her refund. She may also have been told what the purchase was for, if only as a PP transaction number that leads to the eBay purchase.
It's business, not personal

Also sometimes the CC companies will flag a transaction for review, which will show up as a CC chargeback.
I recently had a customer with a compramized card and it had my transaction as a possible chargeback for 2 weeks even though he had notified the CC company that it was legit.
It's not always the buyer that starts these things.

Happen to me.
I sold my Rolex watch on eBay. After confirming winning bid I received the information that the PayPal payment was made and eBay instructed me to ship the watch what I did with trackable Fedex shipping.
The moment the Buyer received my item he withdraw the PayPal payment.
First claimed the watch was fake. I have all Rolex paperwork and registration, so Buyer changed saying the watch was scratched. After dispute on eBay that I won I send the Buyer a prepaid FedEx shipping box to return my item, what he never did. eBay told me to file an FBI internet crime complain what I did. Nothing happen.
eBay instructed me to file a police case. I hired a lawyer in LA to file police case at buyers area. Nothing happen.
The Buyer did't paid the $4,500 dollars regarding the winning bid and kept my watch.
Attention this can happen to anybody. After you receive the confirmation that a PayPal payment came in it still can get cancelled and you end up without your item and without payment. aBay and PayPal allow this to happen. I'm looking for legal help for this case.

There is also the possibility that the person's credit card was lost or stolen, reported to the credit card company/bank, and they filed the hold on the buyer's account until they could/can get it straightened out. It isn't an unheard of procedure - it has happened to me, sometime back, when one of my cards was lost.
