A buyer is trying to purchase a $600 iPad but is having PayPal issues. He offers up that it may be this and that. I know it isn't. Says he's not sure which paypal number to call. So I attempt send him something like this.
......it's highly unlikely it would work. It's something with the account. Here's PayPal's phone number. I would give them a call. 1 (888) 221-1161. They should be able to get it straightened out.
Ebay's block:
You might be thinking, Yeah but how can ebay determine it's not your own phone number. Simple, program a whitelist of known business numbers, including ebay's own phone number which is also blocked.

Why am I suspicious there is something afoul here? Why does a buyer have a PayPal issue? Is there something coming down that might cause you a problem with this buyer?

Sellers should be able to provide buyers the phone numbers of ebay's own business partners and ebay themselves. His motives or personal issues are another topic.

A simple google ebay's number. Google paypal's number.
It comes right up.
But I agree all the 007 code talk with The River, Betsy, and the above is ridiculous.

I would have to read between your lines to figure out if you tried to send the buyer eBay's no. through eBay messaging, but it was removed; or if you tried to send the buyer Paypal's no., but something else occurred...or whether you are talking about an entirely different scenario...
Obviously, you did not try to post eBay's no. in your OP or it would show ***cheerio*** or whatever text replacement Lithium uses.
Could you use specific language to express what, exactly, happened?
