Blocked bidder is making third attempt with a new account to scam me

A bidder who bought from me in 2013 and claimed INR (it was a Canadian shipment, so I had no choice to refund, and no tracking, he said the "mail only takes two days" and did his claim through Paypal four days after I shipped, that's how I know it was a scam).

Then he bought in 2016, which I cancelled, but I had put in a non-payment claim (when we could do those) which meant I could only cancel through Paypal opening myself up to feedback. He left the worst feedback I've ever seen about how I'm a disgusting liar that cheats people.

Now he's bought from me again, new account. Other two accounts are still on the BBL, and I checked my records to make sure it's him. Address is different, but he keeps changing his first or last name by one letter to be able to register new accounts when he gets turfed (which I don't think is happening quickly as the 2016 account has been in operation for quite some time.

I have to go to work now, so I'm not dealing with this until I get home. But could use some input from the group, other than adding new account to BBL (which I did), and that I can cancel with problem with buyer's address (which I will be doing as well, unless there's any easier way).

I'm not shipping this $45 coin to this clown so he can claim INR and leave me horrible feedback for the fun of it.

I could be wrong but I think that a buyer can leave feedback if you cancel using problem with address. They would probably have to go to their own feedback page but I think that it can be done.   But I would worry more about cancelling the transaction than the feedback part of it.

I watch my dashboard in the coming week.

I have significant amounts of evidence on this buyer if I have to deal with defects.

Block new acct

Cancel order / problem with address (technically correct, hes a repeat scammer and therefore you know its a problem address)

Report buyer to ebay

Ask to have the account banned, given past scammer history you can provide to ebay

If he is a serial scammer ebay already knows and they have done nothing for years.  Try to get them to ban his account.

Buyer can still leave FB but report the buyer before you cancel and add comments they circumvented your block. That will make it easy to get FB removed.

Block, report and cancel is the way to go.

You said something upthread about not contacting the buyer. In this situation I agree. If the buyer does reach out (I've faced this same situation) I just tell the buyer, "I was advised by eBay customer service to cancel this order. If you have questions about this order I suggest reaching out to them directly." That's it - say nothing more and push them off to CS.

The worst thing is ebay allows buyers scammers like this to create multiple accounts to easily. And they let buyers scammers get away with bad behavior!

Might not have been this post, but one said "block, report, cancel", in that order.

I cancelled first, then realized I should report, did that after (but I did block before I cancelled, just to ensure he can't buy anything else with that account).

Would report after cancelling pose as a problem?

eBay on FB said they can't leave feedback - does that mean "they can't because it will be removed" then, if you say they technically can do it?

So far no FB (not last time I checked). I guess I'll find out in the next day or two.

It means @sin-n-dex the rep gave you wrong info. Perhaps the rep was confusing it with an unpaid item cancellation.

Buyers can still leave FB on a 'problem with address' cancellation.

Since the buyer circumvented your BBL and you reported the buyer, you shouldn't have an issue getting FB removed if a neg comes your way. It will not be automatic. You will need to either send the request through seller help hub (that's what I do and have a very high success rate) or you will need to contact CS.

Exclude Canada from places you ship to. He ruined it for the entire country.

GREAT NEWS!

My reporting him last night got him booted earlier today.

He actually wrote to me at 11pm ET last night and I was trying to figure out what to do about it. I was going with the suggestion that was previously posted about advising him eBay told me to cancel the order, and to contact eBay. I was fine tuning that while on my lunch break today running this by my local coin store friends.

I decided before replying to call eBay and do a verbal report so I could get a call number (to be used if negative feedback is left). I get that most people say CSRs give bad advice, and sometimes they do. But I've been here long enough to ask the right questions and figure out if the person on the other end of the line knows what they're talking about (and that's a 50/50 shot).

Anyway the agent told me he's been "suspended and removed" and I went to his feedback page, and sure enough he's a NARU now.

BTW, when I reported him, I gave up the other user IDs and spellings of his name (the alternate ways to be able to create new accounts), and I suspect my information was very credible in getting him removed pronto. This is all because I keep excellent records. Many people who do a SNAD or INR will never be noticed if they order again, but this guy's behaviour was not possibly anything but a total scam, so I remembered who he was (7 years after his last purchase). I know what city he lives in too (and he's still there apparently), so I've checked out anyone buying from that city, just because the experiences with this guy were so unpleasant in the past.

He's NARU now - so no neg possible.

I'm keeping a watch to see if he comes back and tries to buy again (if he's smart he won't do that, or I'll have him booted again).

Good to know though with address problem they can still leave a neg, but that it's removable under most circumstances. I am pretty sure if it's buyer requested, they can't, which is why some unscrupulous sellers do it this way to avoid getting a neg (but having your buyer report you for cheating the system is probably so much worse).

Why would a Canadian seller block 37 million fellow citizens and potential buyers?
That's like blocking Texas for one problem customer.

Canada has learned as of this month we have 40,000, 000 residents.

And we will be accepting another 400,000 this year.

So if you know any electricians or carpenters who are looking for well paid work, we have a lot of housing to build.

I don't know where all those newcomers are going to live... they did a segment on The National about how students were finding it difficult to get housing near school to attend classes. The few that were interviewed are living in slums for very high price.

I did consider if I should lose my roommate renting out his room to a student (as I'm somewhat close to a University), but I'm very difficult to get along with and probably not the type of person who should have roommates. They'd be lots of rules. My roommate can't afford to go get this own place anyway, so he'll probably stay for a long time (and he's OK with most of the "rules" in my house).
