Blocked bidder activity report not showing user IDs?

Just persuing my blocked-buyer bidding activity and there have been several buyers w/ too many unpaid item strikes trying to bid on my auctions.  When I click on the link to the user ID, it takes me to a page that says "no longer a registered user."  This wouldn't be unusual IF ALL of the blocked buyers ID links didn't say the exact same thing.  And these are for attempted bids made even within the last 24 hours.

Are these users really no longer registered, or is ebay limiting my ability as a seller to see who these unqualified bidders really are?  I'm interested under these circumstances because I've had a particular buyer messaging me re some of the listings and I'm curious to see if this buyer is one who has been trying to bid but cannot.

my blocked buyer list is filled with people who are no longer registered and have to be removed. Not sure if it's an error with ebay or if ebay is actually banning them.

For privacy reasons, eBay hides user ID's of bidders with too many unpaid item strikes. My guess is that the link just defaults to "no longer a registered user" even though that is not the case. I have 5 different bidders on my list with this scenario.

Good to know, thanks.  This must be a new-ish policy?  Maybe I remember once being able to see (perhaps on the bids page itself) user IDs?

Also, just an aside: why would those bidders with prior bad behavior be privileged to have their identity secret?

Well, if they're on your Blocked Buyer List, you're not going to see them in your auction bidding. As far as the BBL is concerned, I cannot recall ever seeing bidder IDs in undisguised form there, unless maybe if we go back to the 2000s sometime, but sometimes you can recognize who it is (if they're known to you) by their feedback count or their eBay signup date.

Recently they have begun adding log entries for members who are blocked due to being in Countries to Which You Do Not Ship, and those IDs are shown to you. I have no blocks that I have added; I just go with the default blocked countries that eBay chose, and ship Worldwide otherwise, so apparently they were blocked because eBay International Shipping does not want to ship there. Fine by me, as they apparently know that there would be problems sending there, and they would not want to eat the loss any more than I would.

eBay generally cites privacy rules for questions like these. As I said, sometimes you can figure out who it is anyway, if you have a particular suspect in mind, on the basis of their feedback count or signup date.

Thanks for this tip.  Sure enough, the buyer who was messaging me WAS being blocked from bidding b/c of too many unpaid item strikes.  The # of feedback and the ebay signup date matched, so that's enough confirmation for me to go ahead and add that buyer to my BBL.
