Bidder cancelled a bid. Said I changed the description of the item. I did not. He didn't read the description. Does this hurt my standing, and if so, how do I correct it?

It does not hurt your standing; bid retractions happen all the time for the flakiest of reasons.
You didn't mention that in fact your FLIR gun listing has had two retractions so far, though because you have made bidder IDs private, I can't see if it's one guy or two, nor can I see how many other bid retractions he or they have made in the recent past. (You can see the retraction count on the bidder's feedback page, under the Feedback as a Buyer tab on the right-hand side.)
You're skating on rather thin ice with big-ticket auctions from a seller account with a very low feedback count, making you a magnet for scammers. Don't forget that you must ship with Signature Confirmation, not just Delivery Confirmation, on any sale of $750 or higher.

advise you do a search on the net for more info on scams...
I notice two retraction done: If they did not rebid: put em on your blocked bidders list...
