What is the deal with the best offer option? I just listed four items. None of the listing pages had the option to add the best offer option but the first 3 automatically ended up with the best offer and the fourth did not. They are listed in the same category. Why can't Ebay just leave things alone when they work just fine the way they were?

Hi
I'm seeing best offer on all 4 of your items & it's really hard to tell what may be going on as so many of us use different listing tools
What form did you try. I'm using SYI this morning & it is showing on mine

I'm having the same problem today, just found this post when I looked on the boards to see if I was the only one!
I do not have an ebay store, so I'm just using the basic selling page on My eBay. No matter what I do, the Best Offer option will not show up when I try to list a fixed price item, whether it's from scratch, or by clicking "Sell Similar" on items I listed yesterday that had a Best Offer option. I even tried another browser to see Internet Explorer was causing this, but that didn't help. I'm hoping this is a temporary glitch, but I'd love to know if anyone has figured out how to fix this. I haven't been able to list anything today because of this.
Even when it was working OK yesterday, the selling page seemed finicky; options I had chosen would change on their own after I previewed the listing, such as flat rate shipping changing to calculated shipping, or buy it now changing to auction style. I just recently started selling after not having sold in months, so this is my first time using the new selling page. Maybe it's brand new and ebay is still working out the kinks?...

Sorry, what I meant by "the Best Offer option will not show up when I try to list a fixed price item" in my earlier post's 2nd paragraph was that the choice to check off "Best Offer" doesn't even show up when I am creating the listing. (I never actually listed anything today, so I'm not sure if it would have automatically added Best Offer on its own, as happened to the OP.)

I called Ebay CS this morning to figure out why the Best Offer option disappeared on the listing form. The rep wasn't sure why it was no longer on the "Quick Listing" tool, which I had been using, but she suggested switching to the "Advanced Listing" tool, which I didn't even realize was an option because I was never going to the main Sell page where that link shows (I instead was clicking Sell Similar from an existing listing.) I switched to that and everything is good now, and I like it a lot more for other reasons as well, like the fact that it shows the category on the page, unlike the Quick Listing page...
Just wanted to post in case any small sellers like me didn't even realize that there is a second listing option. Just when I get used to one version, they change it up. 🙂

Same problem here. Using fixed price, no "Best Offer" option. Other listing with the same items (same item, same categories) show option.

Good morning fellow eBayers. I had this issue over the past couple days as well. I listed my item using PC/Chrome and there was no Make Offer option in my fixed price listing which seemed strange.
I found an answer that may work for some until eBay coders fix their issue.
I listed with PC and then revised with eBay Android App; the Make Offer option appeared there.
Hope this helps.

I opened a new account for the books and magazines that the family seems to continually accumulate, and the account came with a listing format I'd never seen before which had no Best Offer option and listed all fixed price listings as GTC.
You have to switch out of the "quick" listing format and to the advanced listing tool when you go to list an item and it will switch you to that listing format. You'll find the advanced tool in the upper right corner. Then you can go back and remove the best offer feature by revising your listing. Unfortunately, you seem to be stuck with the GTC unless you end the listing and relist it using the advanced listing form. Of course you lose one of your 50 free listings by doing that.
It only took me an hour to find a thread that told me this - ebay's Help section doesn't tell you. Ebay evidentally thinks all new sellers will either list in the auction format or are happy to list fixed price listings with best offer and GTC.

To those still having these issues:
You may have been switched to the New Quick Listing tool.
You can switch to the advanced tool by clicking on 'save and exit’ at the bottom of the quick listing tool and then you will see 'advanced form' on the top right of the new page.
From the advanced tool you can adjust duration, best offer, and plenty of other options not available with the new quick tool.
