Best Way to Handle Mistake in an Auction With Bids

Thank you for taking the time to read this post on Christmas Day! Merry Christmas everyone!

I put an autographed program up for bid and have several bids on it already. The program has several autographs on the front cover. I erroneously listed one of the autographed names. One of the bidders was nice enough to point this out. What is the best way to handle this? The auction ends on Thursday. Thank you!

Best Way to Handle Mistake in an Auction With Bids

Inform all the bidders of the problem THEN

Cancel all the bids, then end the auction.

Fix it, then relist.

Inform the earlier bidders of the relisting.

Cross fingers.

Is there a reason you can't go in and simply edit the name?  You could also add that as part of the description.

Not so simple since there are apparently already bids.

After an auction has received bids, the original title and text cannot be changed, even if the seller cancels the bids.

there may be a FVF charge (based o the highest bid) for doing such.

The first auction i ran after coming back to selling i did the same thing. I canceled the bids fixed the mistake and relisted. I received a defect against me from ebay for canceling the auction.. If at all possible i would let it run.

Thank you everyone for your kind replies. I contacted all bidders, cancelled bids, cancelled the listing then relisted with corrected information. I will probably get a ding from ebay but it is expected. I messed up. Take care all.
