Below Standard rating after 20years as a Seller w 5 Star Seller ratings across theboard. What Gives?

Has this happened to anyone else selling on eBay? i have over 20 years as a seller, with 5 Star detailed seller ratings across the board +  99.5% Positive feedback.  Is eBay targeting sellers to be able to charge higher fees & maximize their profits. are Sellers being victimized?   this is unbelievable!  Who exactly does these "evaluations" ? Both sales that caused this level drop were sellers who filed returns & then never returned items.  it seems eBay cares NOTHING about sellers, unless they are big enough to "matter". Small business will have no place here on eBay soon.  very sad.. anyone have similar experience??

What gives is that none of those things are part of the seller evaluation process.

There are only two things that will put a seller Below Standard - cases closed without seller resolution, and certain seller-initiated cancellations that indicate the seller failed to perform.

Both of those things are clearly explained by eBay, and both of those things are almost entirely within the seller's control.

As long as you deliver what you promise and resolve disputes promptly, you will remain Above Standard.

not true, i DO always strive for satisfied buyers. The buyers both manipulated ebay's returns to be fully refunded & then never returned items. These 2 sales caused rating to drop on 1 key area, to below the 0.30% threshold. you obviously don't know the circumstances. Being ripped off, essentially, by 2 buyers caused MY rating to drop. Are you saying every buyer is 100% honest & on the up&up?? are you that naive?

How did they not return the item, but got a full refund?

Have a great day.

First, I never said that buyers are 100% honest. In fact, one of the most common things I post on this board is that "On eBay, any buyer can steal any item from any seller at any time by filing a fraudulent dispute."

Second, you made a choice to not resolve those disputes - however unfair they were or how distasteful you found them. And by making that choice, you essentially chose to be Below Standard.

If you had resolved the cases, you would still have been ripped off but your rating would not have dropped. But instead, you chose to get ripped off and you let your rating drop.

So in the end, it was your choice to not resolve the cases that caused your rating drop.  Because you would have gotten ripped off either way.

evidently all buyers need to do is file a return, wait a week & then contact ebay to 'step in'. this worked for both buyers & ebay refunded them for me. i never saw the item again

maybe you missed the explanation..  after a buyer files a return, the next step is for them to RETURN it.

so i did my part , i was simply waiting for it to arrive & THEN refund them. That is MY part.

..with me so far?   then they contacted ebay & got refunded.  item still NEVER arrived as a return.  Is that clearer??

As a seller, if you want a return you must respond to the case promptly and send the buyer a return shipping label.

It sounds like you may not have done that?

By "resolve" I mean go to the resolution center and accept the return, and then issue a return shipping label if you want the item back.

It is all explained here:

ebay seems to care nothing about their sellers.. only the buyers. They make alot more from the fees they can charge sellers. That's their Bread & butter. they are systematically targeting sellers so they can charge higher fees. The amount of fee difference is astounding,, if they deem you "Below Standard" they will; take so much money in fees from you, that you might as well not sell.
