Automatic relisting of auctions?

When ebay implemented the end of 30 day listings and made them all good till cancelled, automatic relisting was to apply only to fixed price listings.

I understood auctions would run their course and the seller could decide whether to relist as an auction again or do it as fixed price.

Although I don't do too many auctions, on occasion I will do it. And at least one of my auction listings was just automatically relisted (for the 3 time) when it ended this morning.

Is this a glitch? (Other auctions are ending and not getting automatically relisted.)

Automatic relisting of auctions?

Is there a default checkbox checked when making a listing for an auction that says something like "relist if item doesn't sell"?

Automatic relisting of auctions?

@wesk_36

I just checked my other (ended) auction listings for the same category of item. Other listings ended as I expected them to. (FWIW, it's in collectibles.)

I relisted one of them and in answer to your question, there's no default or checked box that offers to relist if unsold. And as far as I can tell, it's just this one auction that relists automatically.

Automatic relisting of auctions?

I don't know then.

I had this problem years ago and ebay says this;

"Automatic relisting
Auction-style listings:

If you’re using the quick listing tool:
Automatic relisting is selected by default"

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/listings/creating-managing-listings/relisting-items?id=4147

I searched and had trouble finding the checkbox because if I remember correctly, the box was tiny and in a obscured place.

So maybe this is ebay glitch #46,996.

Hi @wesk_36

Golly gee! You were absolutely correct! As far as I can tell, it's not a default checked box but on one listing, I must have checked that box and the item relisted several times.

While I was annoyed at first, thinking it was costing me some of the free monthly listings, after reading it, it turns out that I can have the item(s) relisted up 8 times without being charged. (That works for me!)

Thank you for making the suggestion and forcing me to take another look!

Automatic relisting of auctions?

Thank you for this screenshot! By using eBay in the browser, I was able to go to my active listings and by selecting "edit" I then went to the area below returns where that check box is located, unchecked the box, and saved the change. In the app, rather than saying edit it says revise. I tried going that route in the app, and the returns section doesn't have any such box to check or uncheck. I list all my sales in the app, so I am going to pay attention to look for it when I list again. Otherwise, it's looking like in the app, it may be turned on by default with no way to revise it. Won't know until I try. If anybody tries, please respond so others know.
