Automated Promoted Listings Question From Weekly Chat

@saturdaystoys   - your question about auto promoted listings from the chat and wanting to have certain items excluded from the rules intrigued me.

Take this with a huge grain of salt, but after looking at the auto PL campaign creation info a little further I have another idea you may want to try.

I found this info in the "give feedback" section for auto PL

I did a quick test and found it appears that if you "pause" an automated PL campaign, it doesn't immediately add new listings.

Given that listings that are already promoted won't be included, my thought would be when you are going to list one of those special items, pause the auto campaign it would normally be assigned to, complete the listing and add it to your desired non-auto campaign, then resume the auto campaign.

In theory, at that point it would not be added to or overwritten by the auto campaign because it would already be assigned.

I haven't completely tested this yet and just as a word of caution I don't know if pausing and resuming the existing campaign will have any kind of negative effect on performance.

If you do decide to try this out, please let me if it works. 😊

Automated Promoted Listings Question From Weekly Chat

Thanks so much for the suggestion!  I'll give it a try sometime soon.  In the mean time, I launched a new store category, *Featured Items, that works as an exclusion from the automated promotion.  That seems to work as well.

For the short-term, I may not pause the automated promotion until I have had a chance to monitor its performance over a longer period of time.  So far, my impressions are up... and while my sales were up after 3.5 days with no sales... they have fallen each day over the past four days.  Not sure what to think at this point... but it seems too early to tell.

Thanks again for your thoughtful reply.  I'll let you know if I find that any new adjustments are producing good results.
