Authentication Rip-Off

E-Bay has initiated an "authentication" service which should be good for the community. The problem is their selectivity in applying their policy. I purchased a baseball card on E-Bay and then put it up for sale through my E-Bay store. It sold and then went to "authentication" where it was labeled "not authentic". No reasons or data points were given for the decision, so zero transparency. Which is not the best, but OK. So it's coming back to me, but now I want to return it myself and get a refund from the seller I purchased it from, who sold me an inauthentic item. But they won't allow me to do it. Not really understanding the E-Bay policy here. If the card is not authentic, they should be protecting all E-Bay buyers, not just select ones.

Also, the authentication is not just verifying that the card is authentic, they are also verifying that the card you send matches your listing

Some sellers here have hinted that if the you mail the card in a different protector than you used in your pictures, sometimes that is enough to get it rejected.

When it failed authentication, what reason did they give?
