I’m curious how others handle this. I listed a piece of Pyrex it is a rare piece and very little info is available. It got multiple offers right away and now has bids. I received a crazy offer last night for buy it now. It seems that I can’t accept a best offer anymore. I guess I would have to end and repost? It doesn’t seem like the ethical thing to do has anyone run into this?

I don't think that can be adding to an auction with bids. (There used to be a time when additional info could be added but ebay took away that ability.)
Personally, I'd avoid UPS and Fedex. I've seen too many stories of packages disappearing when they've packed valuable items. IMO, USPS is the safest and most economical choice. Just pack it well.

I was suggesting UPS to pack the item, if they were not comfortable doing it themselves. Then going with USPS as the carrier. Additional information can be added to an auction, just not at the end ( I haven't checked the time frame.) The shipping information can't be changed directly. I would hope that this would be agreeable to both buyer and seller and they both want it to get there safely.

If that's true, then eBay needs to update the Help page:

WOW! I see the Bid is now $3750 with still over 2 days to go - Seriously?
I need to go check the thrift stores around my area!

Alternatively, pick up some plain white Pyrex, a couple cans of spray paint and a stencil kit. 😁

I would double box each piece individually with lots of bubble wrap and look for an external box with at least a 200 lbs strength rating.

I have shipped many very expensive sports cards via registered mail. I never noticed any long delays. I always shipped using a small Priority mail flat rate box.

For the price I would hope that the buyer was near enough for a little drive and set the package on the counter at their PO requesting an acceptance scan and that it not be sent to the regional facility and back😁
and better yet I would hope that the buyer had a PO box, and the package would be picked up right there.

End the auction and then go to confession if you feel bad.
There is nothing ethical or unethical about starting or stopping an auction.
Your "offer" is coming from someone that knows what it could possibly end at and hopes that you don't.
You would probably lose money by taking the offer.

No need for stencils or paint:

I have a friend who buys and sells Pyrex at antique malls and shows. I sent her a link to this listing and she said this was the first she has seen this pattern. Not in her budget though!

As long as I've been buying and selling Pyrex I too have never seen this pattern in the wild. But if you look on Pinterest several folks have the golden sunflower pinned. Looks like it came in Turquoise as well.
My Pyrex books are out in my she shed but the wind's are relentless and I can't make it out there to grab them.
You know Pyrex has begun reproducing old patterns now especially the 1960s, bolo.
I just hope that a couple of 🤡 clowns aren't playing with the OPs auction, we've seen that to many times.

I saw a Pyrex on my thrift visit when out shirting, (not shirting by MW definition) but don't think that was the pattern. It was $2-3, no lid. I did not buy it.

What is "shirting" and what is MW?
