Don't know what's with buyers these days. Apart from this nut I've had three people complain about "missing packages" that were all marked delivered. Anyway...
I wake up this morning to someone opening a cancellation request, then see I have a few messages as well. First message: buyer says, I hit cancel by accident, I still want the item. Second message: no wait, I DO want to cancel. Third message: wait, I want to keep the item.
Feedback left for sellers is minimal but unanimously negative/neutral, complaining about sellers canceling their order.
At the moment the case is still open. Should I just leave it that way and ship?

Chronic indecisiveness? Your call, but you could cancel since he did tell you he wanted that. Then you could block if you cared to. It could be he could change his mind again after you ship. This seems like a problem in the making, IMO.
He might be one of those who just posts feedback when dissatisfied, if he has far more feedback than he has given.

Yea buyers can be fickle at times. And yes, there is a higher potential of this buyer filing a return after receiving the item. If the item is low priced, I personally would just send it out and hope for the best. But that's just me... a glutton for punishment.

Hopefully if you sent it out, all would be well, and price point is an important consideration. One might be more inclined to send a ten dollar item as opposed to a hundred dollar item. Hindsight is a great thing, but no one knows what will happen here, so there really isn't a wrong answer, just varying degrees of being comfortable and different perceptions of how risky this might be.

Yes, completely agree - if they're waffling this hard over a $2 item I don't have high hopes for the transaction.
Do you know if the buyer is able to leave feedback if they opened the cancellation request?
A two dollar item? Oh, my! I want to say no, but have not confirmed that.

$2 (before fees) was NOT worth the headache of dealing with this individual. I did some googling and checked eBay's help pages, and eBay explicitly states that buyers who request cancellations are unable to leave negatives, neutrals, or leave low seller ratings. I think it's a totally different story if I had initiated the cancellation, though.
I guess you can't cancel a cancellation request as a buyer though - right before I went to cancel the transaction I had gotten get another message saying "can you cancel my cancellation request." Seriously? No.
Transaction was canceled, buyer was blocked, and their payment information screenshotted in case they use a different screenname to try to get around the block and do a spite buy. I'm not relisting the item and will instead be including it as a freebie for a buyer from a non-eBay venue who's been nothing but easygoing and pleasant to deal with.

Sounds great to me! Good for you! I totally agree with you. Thank you for confirming that the buyer cannot leave feedback if they ask for a cancellation. As I said, that's what I thought, but wanted to alert you that I needed to confirm that.
I would think (but probably shouldn't, LOL) that the buyer would be embarrassed to have changed their mind so many times~but apparently not.
A buyer can only request a cancellation. It is up to the seller to accept or decline, and Ebay gives three days for that decision to be made. That's a stumbling point for many buyers who think that the cancellation is guaranteed.
