I recently shipped an item with the wrong "shipping from" zip code in my account (an apartment I lived in 7 years ago -- I don't sell on eBay often obviously). I have since updated my "shipping from" address, but already dropped this item off at the Post Office this morning 😕
When I went to manage my shipments to see if there would be enough postage, and attempted to reprint the label while changing the shipping zip code, the cost difference between the old shipping from zip and my actual shipping from zip code is short $1.28.
I'm just trying to make sure this gets to the buyer in a timely fashion. Can I pay the difference online somewhere or contact USPS to make sure this arrives to the buyer with no problem?

Evening,
I had this happen once...in a bit of a different way...but I knew my postage was gonna be short when I got home but by then the package had left the post office.
I immediately looked up the phone number of the post office the package was designated to and called the staff there.
I told them about the package...about the potential for postage not being enough...gave them the tracking info and the customers name.
Sure enough when the package arrived, there was postage due and the great folks there at the PO called me and I paid them with a check and sent it asap to them. They were kind enough to forward the package to the buyer without the buyer knowing the postage shortfall.

There's nothing you can do. It may go through without getting caught. Keep your fingers crossed.
If the buyer receives it Postage Due, they will owe the full retail amount minus whatever you paid with your discount.
If that happens, you can go to PayPal and issue a partial refund for the postage due amount through the original transaction.
I wouldn't say anything yet to the buyer. Cross that bridge when you come to it. Apologize, explain your mistake, and hope they are understanding.

There's nothing you can do right now, except wait to see what happens next.
If a post office or sorting center in your region discovers the discrepancy, the package will be returned to you for additional postage. If the problem is discovered farther along the way, then the package will be delivered with Postage Due. IMHO it's unlikely that this will be noticed; most PO's just check the accuracy of the weight.
You could send the buyer a vague heads-up notice, mentioning that there MIGHT be a problem with the postage due to an error on your part, and reassure them that if that happens, you will gladly reimburse them if they provide proof of the amount due such as a PO receipt or an image of the package.
