Any possible solution to held funds on Digital Sale?

I recently (roughly a month ago) joined eBay to sell digital sports cards. I've had success selling these cards and all feedback received has been positive. I know that sometimes eBay holds funds for new sellers, rightfully so, but considering my selling situation is a bit unique I was curious if there was any work-around. Digital cards are (obviously) not physical items and therefore they are not shipped with tracking. Instead, they are just simply traded over a mobile app. So, it is impossible for me to provide tracking. I've tried to do a little internet research and accepted that I found no solutions and kept chugging along.

However, I have now reached the point of where eBay is hurting me instead of helping me. I use a portion of the profit from sales to re-stock cards to sell and my digital cards accounts are the weakest they have ever been. I sold a little over $1,000 in digital cards and nearly $900 of it is on hold and isn't set to be released for weeks. I understand eBay's policy but surely somehow there has got to be a way to have funds released sooner for sales of my type. Not everyone leaves feedback, but I have tons of held funds on items that have received positive feedback. On top of that, it seems like eBay is holding funds from sales the past couple of weeks at a much more frequent rate. Starting out I'd say that roughly 1 in every 4 transactions were held. 8 of of my last 10 sold items have the funds being held. Holding the funds on 8 out of 10 transactions is just really extreme in my opinion, especially when funds used to be held much less frequently.

I know there is no solution to my problem but I have hit rock bottom in the most seemingly twisted way.  I'll pray for a miracle response. Thank you for reading.

Not sure what your profit point is, but maybe in the future you need to mail a copy of the invoice as a First Class PACKAGE with tracking so you can "prove" delivery. As to the current funds being held, I have no suggestions. Sorry.

Hi and welcome! Have you been manually marking the items as Shipped? You are supposed to receive your funds within 7 days if you do this. I have included the Funds Availability help page link below that spells out how to get your funds released. in case you hadn't seen it.

https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/service-and-payments/funds-availability.html

"Based on your shipping method and the shipping information you provide, here's when your funds should be available

  • Within 24 hours after we confirm the order was delivered, if you pay for shipping and print labels on eBay.
  • Within 24 hours after we confirm the order was delivered, if you ship directly using USPS, UPS or FedEx and manually enter your tracking information to My eBay.
  • Seven days after your latest estimated delivery date, if you don't upload tracking information but you mark the item as shipped in My eBay.
  • 21 days after the buyer pays, if you don't provide tracking information, mark the item as shipped, or the estimated delivery date can't be calculated. In such cases, we may use buyer feedback as a delivery confirmation along with other factors.

Keep in mind that it may take longer to get funds if your buyer reports a problem or if we detect any risk with the transaction."

There are sellers who do not use tracking, so you are not alone. Some stamp sellers mail the goods in a regular envelope with a first class stamp and no tracking. But even if you do nothing to gain early release of your held funds, they are not supposed to keep them longer than 21 days.

You seem to be doing well. I checked the Digitally Delivered Goods policy and digital trading cards can be sold on eBay without restriction. But the policy does not say how to deal with new seller holds when you are selling digital material. I think i would contact eBay customer service, explain the issue to see if something can be done to speed up the process for digital content. Just continue to run your business as you have and eventually the holds will be lifted, once you have a proven track record.

By the way, mystery boxes are not allowed to be sold on eBay. There are specific guidelines that your listing did not follow. You don't want to run afoul of the rules at this stage of the game. The holds will be indefinite if you receive policy violations. Be very careful with what you list and how you list it. Read all the policies and familiarize yourself with the eBay Money Back Guarantee and the PayPal Buyer Protection program. Wishing you all the best.
