Amazon Prime

I purchased on eBay some lotion which came today from an Amazon Fulfillment Center, Amazon Prime on the tape and box and an Amazon gift card inside.

Another case of an eBay seller using Amazon for free shipping. I usually have a live and let live attitude, but for some reason this bugs me.

If the seller is doing nothing wrong, then the report will do no harm.

Apparently Amazon takes this so seriously that they have provided no way to report its occurrence.

Like I said, not everyone finds it such an outrage. 😄

So much for that golden rule business anyway.

That bugs Amazon more.

I don't care if sellers dropship from Amazon, Walmart or Mars. The issue is using their Amazon Prime to pay for shipping of eBay items they sell on eBay and telling Amazon it is a gift. From what I have read on these boards, Amazon doesn't like that, it's an abuse of their Prime membership. If I did that as a eBay seller, I would have recouped the $99 membership fee the first month.

Don't believe everything you read. 🙂

3P Amazon sellers are included in the Prime Program and have been for more than six months now.  It began a year ago...

It more than an ethical matter.  It's outright theft no matter how small you think it might be.  It affects all of us as companies have to raise their prices to cover this type of shrinkage/theft.

This reminds me of my undergrad college courses, where everyone was circulating copies of the last year's homework and the courses were graded on curves. I struggled desperately to stay ahead and earn grades on my own merits for about half a semester and then realized that life is not fair and there are no consequences for cheating.

Is it against Amazon's wishes/TOS? Absolutely. Is it wrong/illegal/unethical? Come on. Like others have said... there are way more pressing matters to lie awake over, even here on eBay.

No, it is not.  Amazon 3P sellers are included in the Prime Shipping Program.

I watched athlete kids go through college with tutors and note-takers and test-takers.  I did the work for my undergrad and post-grad degrees and actually learned what was being taught.  I guess we learned different lessons.

I'm a small seller.  So far this month alone I have purchased exactly $100 worth of USPS postage.

Last year I spent about $3700 in shipping.  If I'm using an Amazon Prime account to foot that bill and pocketing the money, I'm stealing it from someone.   Oh - that would be from either or both Amazon and my buyers.  But... I'm not really stealing from Amazon as they will make up that loss by raising item prices or in high(er) Amazon Prime fees.  So I'm stealing from everyone then.

That $3,700 didn't just magically appear out of thin air.  And yet you see nothing wrong with that?

Tell you what - I'll give you $99 a year and I'll even give up Prime Video and all other perks- all you have to do is just cover my $3,700 in shipping

With Amazon Prime, the cost of shipping is spread out over the $99/year paid for Prime, + a charge built into the price.  You are paying for shipping.  Just as you are paying for shipping if you buy a free shipping item on Ebay.

Nothing is being stolen.

Don't be ridiculous. If I bought from this seller eBay's MBG would protect me or really any buyer.

OK, where did I say it wouldn't? The point is to avoid doing business with unethical people. Not whether I would eventually get my own money back. Which part is ridiculous exactly?

I would start here:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=201737350

That gives you the form to report a listing, highly analogous to the ebay item report form.

It does not give a way to report "I bought this item somewhere else, and it was shipped from Amazon".

If the prices on Amazon were not cheaper than my local store I would not be buying there.

It is theft of service. Using the account for free shipping to make more money for your business violates the user agreement.

I bet you are some of the same people who are all dissing millennials for their entitlement attitudes. SMH.

Amazon collects a 15% "final value fee", + a minimum of about $3.50 fulfillment fee from seller for Prime sellers.  This is paid by buyer, whether the item is resold or not.

Yeah, actually it is.  The Amazon Prime program has been costed out for the average buyer, not for someone to send items as gifts to several thousand of their closest friends.

It's funny because I know of someone who posts on this very board whose Amazon Prime account was cancelled for this exact behavior.
