I purchased on eBay some lotion which came today from an Amazon Fulfillment Center, Amazon Prime on the tape and box and an Amazon gift card inside.
Another case of an eBay seller using Amazon for free shipping. I usually have a live and let live attitude, but for some reason this bugs me.

its a brave new world.....
why do you care? did you get what you wanted at the price you wanted?
I say the seller is using all assets he has to do business... and why do you care what box or where it came from.... you got what was listed , correct?

"I got a slip of paper telling me to be sure and thank the person who sent me the "gift", the "gift" being something I bought on eBay. By using their Amazon Prime and telling Amazon it is a gift, they pay nothing for shipping. This enables them to sell on eBay with "free shipping", giving them an advantage over other sellers."
-----------
I understand exactly what you're saying.
True, others here are saying "you got what you ordered, but who cares?"
But this does offends one's sense of 'fair play'.
As said earlier, eBay doesn't care, but you can pursue this on the Amazon website
where they take abuse of their Prime membership seriously in cases like this.

This happened to me and I did call Amazon with the order number included with the item and reported the seller and got all of his 30 day free trial accounts shut down. I was absolutely furious because this seller was using Amazon Prime to drop ship for his eBay store. Please do not misunderstand... I wasn't furious because this seller was smarter than I and shopped around better. I wasn't furious because I paid more than I had to. I wasn't even furious because this seller was using Amazon as a drop shipper.
What I was furious about was the seller was using Prime accounts, never mind that they were free Prime accounts. I'm an Amazon Prime member and mostly utilize the account to watch movies. When I first opened my Prime account, I was paying about $79.00 per year which was a pretty good deal. Suddenly Amazon accounces they will be raising my fees to $99.00 per year or $20.00 or 25%. That's a HUGE raise in fees.

I don't know why I am shocked by the lack of ethics some show on this board. It happens fairly frequently you would think I would be used to it by now.
No, apparently it's ok to violate the Prime rules and steal free shipping they are not entitled to. Maybe some think it's ok to steal from a faceless company. Until they're the faceless company and come here complaining because some one does them the same way.
Ethics are not situational. If it's stealing in one place it's stealing somewhere else. Anyone who will steal from someone will steal from anyone.

Just for the record, I agree with you, pinups & the others. I have Prime, I do NOT abuse it..
I just know eBay isn't going to do anything about it..
That's why I suggested they report at Amazon.

Correct Pika, this actually has nothing to do with eBay, this is an Amazon issue.

Violating the Prime rules is not the same thing as stealing from the shopping mall. It's more like stocking your corner bodega with food from Sam's club. Amazon just doesn't want you to do it, because you're cutting into their profits.
Prime is a grossly overpriced bundle of free shipping and a whole bunch of garbage nobody wants, like streaming movies and Kindle loans.
The US Postal Service used to have a problem with people stocking up on Priority Mail flat-rate boxes and putting Parcel Post labels on them. They countered that by printing "Priority Mail" on both the inside and outside surfaces. FedEx and UPS are similarly annoyed when you use their competitors' boxes to mail things. But you won't go to Hell for doing it.
I'm honestly shocked that people think this is an ethical matter. Like a person who would drop-ship with Amazon Prime would beat a child or sell drugs to homeless people. You probably have a pirated MP3 or two on your hard drive, and I don't care in the least.

OP, Amazon Services offers Multi-Channel Fulfillment to other ecommerce vendors.
My understanding is (and I could be wrong about the specifics) is that an e-commerce vendor can send his stock to Amazon who will then distribute the stock in various locations and offer free two day shipping to Prime members. The package would show up in an Amazon box or mailer. The orders could come from Amazon, the sellers own website, a drop-ship customer, or "any other online order".
Based on what I have read it looks like it is possible to sell on Ebay and have Amazon store, pick, pack, and ship the products. And provide customer support.
Now the part about the enclosed gift card may indicate a Prime Member is abusing the system, but sometimes vendors do set up promotions and include gift cards or coupons.

While some say that it isn't an ebay issue, it will be when the buyers leave negs or neuts that say - Thanks for letting me know that I can get it cheaper on Amazon.
