Amazon Prime Drop Shipping with Fee Avoidance

I purchased an item from a seller (on another account, not this one), who used their Amazon Prime account to ship it with-but thats not my main complaint.

The seller unchecked my "paid", so now it looks like I haven't paid for the item, when it was an immediate payment upon purchase. Plus I received the item today.

The only reason I can figure out, is the seller is avoiding paying the eBay final value fees.  How do I report the fee avoidance?  I tried through the policy violation link, but it doesn't allow me to put in the item# I want to report....

I have absolutely no idea of who you would *report* to or how you would make your tattle work.

While I don't condone or approve of this practice by some Amazon Prime members, I also have to admit that I don't know if there is some subscription/understanding/okay between Amazon and their seller-members who use their Fulfillment By Amazon service which permits and even operates in this manner.  Many e-commerce sellers store their inventory AT an Amazon fulfillment center and have it sent to all buyers OUT OF that fulfillment center, even though it isn't officially an *Amazon* sale.

And, I'm sure Amazon knows this is going on, so it would be up to them to monitor this practice among their Prime members, address the issue with any they pinpoint, and end the practice or the member!  (...much like eBay is trying to monitor and bring an end to members here using eBay for the interest and then trying to arrange for the transaction to occur off-site.)

The areas that seem to get confusing is that there are two areas.

  1. Amazon Prime which is a buyers subscription tool.
  2. Fulfilled by Amazon is a sellers tool.

I think there might be some marking or packing slip as to whether a package is shipped using Amazon Prime or Fulfilled by Amazon, but I am not sure?

Fulfilled by Amazon is used in a couple ways by sellers.  The obvious way is that they let Amazon control all the shipping and returns duties for a fee.  Amazon also holds all the inventory at there warehouses.  Sellers also can ship items being stored at the Amazon warehouses for orders that take place off Amazon for a fee.

The OP mentioned it was shipped through Amazon Prime, but it might also have been shipped through the fulfilled by Amazon?  Only the OP would know if there is any indication of which service shipped this item?

Good Luck Selling!

3P sellers can have their items fulfilled by amazon using prime.

If someone uses their prime account to ship to a 3rd party, a gift receipt is usually present. If they ship using FBA/Prime, a regular packing slip may be included. Sometimes I get packing slips with my AZ orders, sometimes not.

I would hate to think of an ebayer reporting another seller and maybe even get their account suspended when all they did was use FBA. Probably the FBA boxes have Prime all over them as advertisement. I used to get recycled boxes from B&N and no matter the size box, it had Kindle all over it.

Prime is never printed on any Amazon boxes.  It IS all over their tape, however.  As a Prime member, I don't know what tape Az uses for non-Az FBA shipments.

During the Amazon purchase process, the buyer can choose whether to designate an item as a gift, and can then choose whether to include a "gift receipt" with the package.  IMHO no sensible Prime abuser would choose to include this receipt.

Whoever said they were sensible?

Every single Amazon package I've gotten - when I was Prime, and when I was not - has had Prime tape on it. This of course does not include packages directly shipped from 3P sellers.

Nope. The paid/unpaid thing proagates through the system. And once seller marks it unpaid, it can't be undone (at least that was the case last year? when I did it while experimenting - fortunately never heard any howls from the buyer)

You didn't get the message. I am annoyed by the unpaid item, not because they used their amazon prime account.

Yes, I got "A Gift for you" slip in the package.

Again, I am not annoyed by them using their amazon prime account.

The seller is almost at 10,000 feedback, not a new seller.

And the item purchased is a new modern, mass produced item, not a collectible or one of a kind.

It is listed by many other sellers on eBay, all at different price points. Same brand new item.

Again, I am annoyed by the unpaid item status under my purchases, not the drop shipping...

Since the simplest explanation is the most likely answer, I am going to suggest that the seller likely just fumbled, and meant to click the Shipped icon once whoever he may have had to purchase it from confirmed that it was shipped.

If it works, sell it. If it works well, sell it for more. If it doesn't work, quadruple the price and sell it as an antique.
