I could have not written a better script for how to destroy a Seller's business.
So, am I the only one hurting.
1. Multiple overlapping technical problems/glitches.
2. Loss of the Sellers' ability to have sales.
3. Increase in postal rates.
4. No power to fight bogus SNADs---even when proof is there.
5. Free Shipping Free Returns-----assuming higher risks.
6. Losing Top Rate Plus Status--no 10% fee discount.
7. Loss of pictures: rebuilding listings/finding pictures. all killing the time for creating new listings.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^ etc. etc, etc
8........99.
We should get t-shirts that read:
We got (99) problems and drowning in Sales ain't (1), one!

And the false returns are begining . I don't think I'm going to be staying . The 30 day returns were bad enough but the 30 day free returns are going to kill my business . The buyers have all the power and the sellers have nothing. tulips

I'm sorry to hear that Tulips 😞 I wish instead we could have all the BAD sellers go away AND the bad buyers. It's not going to be a nice environment around here otherwise.

And OP, I am sorry you (and other sellers) are hurting in so many areas right now. It does seem more than the fair share of seller troubles, and I've stopped trying to keep up with the glitches. If you printed the shirts, I would buy one.

my sales are up this year but only because i tried overcoming all the other problems by increasing inventory. i hate quiting but i've been wondering if i made a mistake. i'm working a whole lot harder and my personal income has not gone up that much at all.
the amount i pay ebay sure has gone up though.
the returns are getting rediculous already and i havnt been doing free returns for very long. It used to be that the buyer had to fib about the transaction in order to get a free return. Believe it or not there are numerous people who buy things on eBay as a business. The more discounts and out right full refunds they receive the higher their income. In the past when bad buyers needed to lie more eBay could at least see that specific buyers had something bad to say about a large number of items they purchased. It left the track record. Now they have a much wider range of tools in their arsenal.
I have two returns pending right now that I may just refund without a return because I'm sick of paying for the returns. Especially when you consider I may not even get back my original part (yes that does happen) and I will have paid for shipping both ways and a refund and I have absolutely nothing to show for except that my percentage of returns has gone up.
Con artists know this. And they also know there is now less risk (if any at all ) for them to open up a return. Knowing that the seller is going to pay for the return under any circumstance just opens up the likelihood that the buyer we'll get a refund and get to keep the item.
Furthermore , buyers who aren't necessarily dishonest but are otherwise lackadaisical in their morals will know longer care whether or not they're buying the correct item. Because they have the "right" to free returns now. They can try anything out and just say it didn't fit or it was the wrong color or whatever and never have to worry again.
And because I know random eBay employee might post on this board and say "well you don't have to have free returns so if you don't like it just don't use it" I say that is and erroneous assumption. If your fees you paid to eBay are just $1000 dollars a month you need that 10% discount. Not to mention how free returns ends up figuring in your product placement as you best match and whatnot. Assuming all of those algorithms are even working correctly to begin with. NOT
And in case any other random eBay employees or other sellers or buyers say " if you don't like eBay maybe you should just quit seeing you complain so much" I say I have a lot invested with eBay. I have paid them a lot of money. Not as much as their huge sellers but a lot for the average person nonetheless. I can't just walk away from this investment of time and merchandise. I can't just move all of my listings with the snap of a finger. And yes I have given serious consideration to quitting just the same.
And I haven't even started complaining about the exorbitant fees this time. The OP forgot to mention the cost of the fee eBay charges on shipping. The OP did mention the increase shipping costs. But how can you mentioned increase shipping costs without mentioning that you're paying almost 10% to ebay on the amount it cost you to ship something. Some people don't even realize this. I have a friend who was only selling things to earn a tiny bit of extra money. A lot of his stuff was a little on the heavy side so it has cost a larger amount to ship. He wasn't making big profits but he's poor and it provided him a little bit extra pocket money. or so he thought. Some people are not very good at bookkeeping and he unfortunately is one of those people. for some reason he didnt know about the fee on shipping. yea he was only losing an around an extra $2 per transaction because of that fee but he was only making $15 to begin with . that turned into $13 with the shipping fee. To some people that doesn't seem like much. BUT it was in fact over 13% of his profits. I asked him if he was making $10 dollars an hour and his boss decided he was going to get a $1.30 cut in pay if he'd be happy about it? 13% doesn't seem like such a small piece of the pie when you look at it that way.
He was one of the small sellers that quit eBay. not a big deal to ebay. i convinced him he'd be better off mowing a couple of close by lawns in his hood.

If that is the case, the solution seems incredibly simple - stop offering 30 day free returns.
They are not mandatory.

I always felt that offering returns - especially free ones - tends to attract buyers more likely to return items. I list a no return policy, but of course, I do accept returns if there is a problem with the item. However, I get very few return requests.
I have no idea whether listing no returns affects my sales or not as I haven't experienced any big dips or spurts in sales in years.

Nope, not by a long shot.
But ... we got an apology.
That makes it all go away, right? .... right?

I agree with you. I`m working twice as hard with half the positive results as before. My goal is to do the opposite of that. Something has gotta give. I`ve decided instead of taking 2 steps forward and four steps back, to just stop and do some serious thinking about my next move.

eBay is a negative influence on your life. Get out into the outer world & leave the inner world far behind. You will have less stress, better health & more money. Let eBay sink it's own ship with it's own foolish behavior.

Agreed. I was a flea market seller prior to the internet, got onto ebay and did well 20 years ago. Now by choice I am back at the flea market selling to folks who are just starting on ebay. Stressless sales. Give it a try.

Nope, you're not alone. My sales are down 90% since March 2018 which is the last time things were working nomally (if you can call it that) around here.
Someone else started a thread suggested that sellers post their sales stats to document what has been going on. You might want to also share your results. Here's the thread: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Post-your-31-Day-Sales-Chart-HERE/m-p/28694711#M1243148

I recently spoke with ebay about the changes to the Markdown Manager. Basically I can't do sales anymore unless they are spaced two weeks apart or scheduled to last forever. Thanks for that Ebay. Since the change on June 25th my 30-day average gross sales has dropped by 37.3%......This is costing me a lot in lost sales. I'm sure I'm not the only one, I wish I could just quit.
