All items for sale @$543.21

I have noted a seller listing most items for sale with "Buy it now' at a price $54.321.. All are understandably overpriced. Is this some sort of scam? Do they get a lone buyer, mistakenly hit buy and pocket the cash a.s.a.p. ? Could it be account(s) that are taken-over/hijacked?

The seller could have just done that as place holder listings for some reason that we don't know, then revise them into more realistic info and prices as they go.

Some times sellers will have a item promised to a specific buyer at a certain price. They set the buy not so high a normal person would not buy and have a offer setting to auto except for a certain agreed upon amount. When the buyer has the funds they send in the offer and it gets accepted. Kind of like putting the item on hold.

This may be what is going on.

Some sellers dont have vacation settings and don't know about using the "out-of-stock" control to hide listings while away, and they don't want to end their listings, so they jack up the prices on their items to prevent purchases while away.

Could be a sales strategy for haggling.

Some folks respect/like that approach in getting a deal.

Do the listings have "Make offer"    on them?     It's an attention getter for sure.

I know a Seller that his PO totally shut down for a while due to Covid.     He let a handful of listings run but jacked up the prices so nobody would buy.

Sometimes an unrealistic high price is used for money laundering...the zon has this problem too.  You'll see common books listed for thousands of dollars and they still get "buyers".  IT's a money laundering scheme. Not saying that's the reason for this specific seller, just saying that is a strategy some unethical types use to launder money.

Some sellers are just plain crazy and they really don't care if they sell their items or not. Sometimes I wonder if it is so they can brag to friends and family they run their own on line business and show off their stuff. There are so many items I have on my watch list that's been there for years and never sold. Who knows.

Vacation or placeholder listing.  Super common.
