After posting a car for sale, I cannot find it using even a general search. Did I miss something?

My car is a 1994 Toyota Celica. If I search for "Toyota Celica," it should come up. Instead, I get 10 other Celicas but mine is not in there.

Here is my search:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR10.TRC4.A0.H0.Xtoyota+celica...

Here is my ad:

Seems simple enough posted in the right place.

But I can't find the doggone thing doing a general search. Can anyone else? Does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks,

Scott

Very strange!  When I click on your link I get 11 Results, and your car is included.

@scottrees
Same as last time, it's there again.
Not sure why you are having issues finding the listing .

I also see you listing in the search results.

The car is in Alaska. I presume you are in Alaska and your Primary Purchase address is in Alaska. That is the zipcode used by the search engine for calculated shipping when you search for your listing.

There is currently a nasty eBay bug with zipcodes not in the lower 48 states that reared its head last December also. This case is different from the other situations I'm seeing though.

Try this:
►Locate an item (NOT a vehicle for sale. just anything else)
►Change zipcode on Shipping and Payments tab from 99515 to 95825 (a Calif zip) and hit "Get Rates" (changes "purchase zip" temporarily.
►Search for your Toyota again, and I'll bet it shows up.
►(make sure to change the zip back to the right one the same way)

What is weird is that in the other cases, an Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, or other territories zipcode causes all sellers to disappear from results (except those that offer international shipping also). In this case, it just disappears you and one other seller from the results.

The other seller that gets excluded when I used Alaska, Puerto Rico, or Guam zipcodes is in Philadephia, PA BUT HAS PROTECTORATES excluded in his shipping options.

It LOOKS like the eBay bug is that Alaska, Puerto Rico, and the other protectorates are mistakenly getting lumped in all together, and/or somehow lumped in with international exclusions also. (but NOT Hawaii any more - it works which is odd)

So when a user like yourself, with an Alaska zipcode tries to look at any listings that don't ship internationally or that exclude protectorates (but don't exclude Alaska/Hawaii) you still are not shown those search results. (I'm total uncertain about this theory)

In your case, I can't figure out what it is about your Celica listing shipping options that fits in with that theory and causes it to be hidden from Alaska and Puerto Rico (and I assume Hawaii and all the rest) zipcodes. Your listing shows no hard exclusions, and ships to the UK, Canada, and Australia. The other 9 sellers that always show up ship to US, or are local pick up only, or ship to US, and Canada, etc but have no hard exclusions.

This is getting messy and I don't see the full failure pattern here.

The good news is that probably only Alaska, Puerto Rico, and other protectorates buyers won't find your listing. The bad news is it's a car, and Alaska buyers are your best chance for a sale I would think.
