I sold a Olympus OM-1 camera last September (9/16/21), carefully checking out all the functions and all was working just fine. So now, after 7 months, the buyer has a complaint that the built-in meter is not working. So much time has gone by since I shipped out the item. Item ID:165072045968.
Am I still responsible after so much time has gone by?
I look forward to any comments. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Morton

Wowzer. My kneejerk reaction is 'No'... the eBay MBG had the buyer for 30 days and the buyer may have paid through PayPal (180 days allowed) or with a CC (180+? days allowed). In my opinion, you made a successful sale.

Hi @morty13 ,
At this point you have no responsibility for the camera especially since you have no idea how it has been used in the last 7 months. The Buyer can certainly try to file a charge back with their credit card company (if they used one to pay) but they might be faced with a challenge there.
At this point you don't "own" any issues with it BUT if you try to help them you WILL OWN THEM for as long as the Buyer has the camera.
If you did not offer any extended support you may have to politely advise them that you are not really able to do much outside eBay's 30 day return window. They can't leave Feedback after 60 days. I would consider adding them to my blocked list too.
Regards,

I had a similar experience couple of months back with a buyer. I look up my selling records and told him, that he purchase the item over 7 months prior. That at that point, I was not able to do any thing.
I never heard from him again.
Good luck on your selling journey!

I vote no. I also wonder who in their right mind would even remotely entertain the thought that after having an item for 7 months that they could go back on the seller.
I agree with the suggestion to block the buyer.

Nope.
im pretty darn customer friendly but that’s too much time passed on a delicate item.
