Advice on increasing feedback response

Hello community. Looking for advice on how to get buyer's to leave feedback.

On my original selling account, the feedback response rate is good... about 70%.

My second (new) selling account, the feedback response rate is dismal... less than 20%.

Already, I leave positive feedback for buyers when I ship their item, in a good faith effort that they will do the same.

Any tips or tricks? What works? What doesn't work?

In a world where you can be anything, be kind.

Advice on increasing feedback response

Since feedback is voluntary there is no good way to encourage people to leave it without potentially annoying them.

The good news is that any Ebay metric that could hurt your account is counted against number of sales, not feedback.

The other good news is that judging by the number of bidders who come to the boards and complain that they have bought from bad sellers, many bidders don't check feedback at all.

Please don't send messages asking for feedback. And if you just can't help it, only send one. Not multiple messages, I personally get super irritated over that. I'll leave feedback if it's a smaller seller, they left it first, and I'm happy with my purchase or how the transaction was handled. If you left it already, and I don't, you really don't want me to. Trust me.

Many sellers think, like many buyers do, that somehow that feedback is owed them.  It is voluntary; no one is owed it.

No feedback may be the best thing for you.  When I don't leave feedback, there is a good reason.  Yet I have received messages pointing out that...I left you feedback; please leave me mine.  Why haven't you left me feedback?

My response?

I didn't think you would want potential buyers to know you sent a rare, fragile, vintage porcelain figurine in a mailer bag.

Or

I didn't think you would want potential buyers to know that there was significant undisclosed damage on your item.

Apologies.

some will say than 20% is good.

i also don't understand why you get 70% on 1 account and 20% on the other?

are you doing things different from 1 account to the other?

also 1 would might say that doing so well on 1 account, you surely don't need advice from anyone.

i leave FB asa i am paid.

i ship within 1 day.

i offer 30 days return.

i barely get 50% FB in return.

that is the way it is.

by the way no FB left is a positive transaction.

your standing is based on the # of transactions, not on the # of FBs.

Well except for one drawback. If you do not get a good number of positive feedbacks then a single negative can really screw your feedback percentage. That may or not be that important to you, but when I buy something and the feedback percentage is fairly low I tend to shy away. More positive feedback would automatically raise your percentage.
