Is it appropriate to give customers the opportunity to choose from several items in a single listing in the first 3 listings? Or not?

There is no one right answer to this question. If you are listing items that are identical or similar and the price is the same then that is not a problem. For example if you are selling shirts that are different sizes and colors it is OK to allow the buyer to choose the size and color.
However, if you are selling items that are totally different and would have different prices then that is not OK. For example you could not list a car tire, car engine and car transmission in the same listing unless you are selling the entire lot/bundle at one price. In this case you would need to list each item individually in its own listing.
If you can be more specific about what you are thinking of listing we may be able to provide additional guidance.

For example, writing down different sizes of shoes. Is it appropriate to include it in the first listing? Some of my friends told me not to put the variation listing in the first place. Is it correct? That is what I want to know.
