If an item fails authentication, one of several things could happen depending on the specifics.
If it’s deemed counterfeit, it will never be sent to the buyer, and I don’t think it can be returned to the seller either. It’s destroyed and the seller gets a ding on their record.
If it just doesn’t match the description but is authentic, the authenticator may offer the buyer the option to receive it anyway, or they may simply return it to the seller.
