Hi, would anybody object to eBay extending auctions that have activity in the last few minutes, like 5 ? Sellers may get more money, eBay would get more mony and buyers would have the opportunity to make a higher bid. Lastly, it would elimate sniping, which still happens on ebay, is an violation of eBay pilicy, which ebay' acknowledges and still happens. One reason I think it would improve the experience for eveybody are sveral.
We often bid on multiple item from 1 seller and many list the items with close times within minutes of each other.
Amyway, other auction sites do this, ie if an item has a bid they extend the auction time.
IMHO, we would be spending a lot more money on eBay, LOl or keeps me from spending too much.
We have asked eBay why many, many times, as they seem to be seeking more top libe sales , this would increase sales at min cost and help all parties.

Nibblers bid for a bargain and hope for a win. Snipers bid for a win and hope for a bargain.
I'd never read that before, but it definitely sums things up pretty well.

Do you comparison shop?
Do you wait for sales?
Do you overpay?
Same here. Sellers may not always be realistic about the value of their items, but buyers are.

I don’t know who came up with it but it explains how many people think. It was quoted fairly often on the boards.

It's a good saying and so true. I've lurked for almost twenty years. Don't know how I missed it or what I was thinking...it seems a bit familiar now...but fuzzy. Maybe I just haven't seen it in a long time. I don't know if it is something that gets said a lot today, but I am glad that you said it.

I have used sniping software for years, and it has worked quite well for me. I don't have time to babysit auctions especially when they end all times of the days and night. I decide what is the most I am willing to pay for an item and bid my max. I don't take any of it too seriously, but of course I'm happy when I win.
The software submits my bid in the last few seconds of the auction. Since most auctions run seven days I also have an opportunity to update my bid if it appears that it might go higher. I know some people don't like snipers, but it's usually the nibblers. Quite a few years back when user ID's weren't anonymous you could see the other users who were bidding, and you could even check their bid history on previous auctions. There was this one auction I've never forgotten because it was for a Satin Hot Pink Baby Phat Bomber jacket I wanted to buy for my daughter. I won that auction. After the auction ended this woman contacted me and was furious. She accused me of stealing her jacket because apparently she had stayed up all night doing these incremental bids to be the high bidder. She was **bleep** as I had swooped in the last second and stole "her" jacket. She couldn't see what I had actually bid, but I saw her last bid which was $36. Since the winner only has to pay the next increment I got the jacket for $37. My actual bid was $75.00. She was a newbie and hadn't figured out how auctions worked. All she saw was that I had won the jacket for one dollar more. I just told her that she had to be prepared for people who were willing to bid more than her and it wasn't "her" jacket as she hadn't won.
