A seller has opened item not received case

I sold an item and sent it next day special delivery. Item was signed for the next day and the buyer has left positive feedback.

However, now nearly three weeks later the buyer had opened a case saying he hasn't received the item and that Hermes haven't delivered it. Odd, as I sent it by Royal Mail. I sent this information in the resolution centre along with the trackong information.

I know ebay aren't usually great with supporting the seller - any advice/further action I need to take? The cost of the item was £170, so quite expensive and not really something I want to lose out on.

I agree with orangehound. It could be a mistake by the buyer. Did you contact the buyer about it just to clear that part of it up. If the buyer is adamant it is your item that is missing, follow through with your claim against them and don't go back and forth about it. Let ebay handle it from there.

I am assuming that the buyer has simply confused your item with another.

If this were on the US Site, I would simply

  1. Upload the tracking information to the eBay INR claim and let the claim end in my favor.
  2. Communicate with the buyer to let them know that the item was delivered, but that they may have opened up the INR case for the wrong item.

I assume that the UK policies are similar, but you might want to double check by posting your question on the UK boards.

Ref.: "I know ebay aren't usually great with supporting the seller"...

Trust me, ebay is not going to let a buyer blatantly abuse you. I hope you saved all your messages. They are your friend. When did you file through the resolution center? With the info. you posted here, when ebay reviews your information it should be a no brainer for them to close the buyers case immediately. If you are really anxious about it, call ebay.
