A recent surge in buyer returns

In the past 4 weeks I have had 4 returns which is way out of the norm. I have only about 8 in a calendar year. 3 have been jewelry 1 glass. One was definitely fraud customer messages me that she need my glasses for a party this Saturday. She receives them on the Thursday before and what a surprise she does nothing with them before the Saturday. Use them for free and get a full refund. She claims they do not hold the number of ounces I claim but provides no picture/video testing the capacity. She also sends a picture of a glass she already owns claiming it holds 6 oz. How do I know that any proof with photo or video.  Another returns a locket says it closes to tightly that’s weird the usually say does close tight enough.  Another returns a pill box says he does not like the position and size of the hinge but my photos which of course are blown up very clearly shows the hinge. It seems there are a group of very petty buyers shopping online. If you so picky brick and mortar stores are the right place for you to shop. My time packing going to the post office lost money for return labels what you think I selling as a hobbyist. Grow up be considerate.

Yes, sometimes returns run in bunches. I had more in August than the whole previous year. Not that I was getting sloppy, just a run of bad luck with buyers. Not reading descriptions, changing their mind, INAD'S, false INAD's, you name it.

Unfortunately Ebay forces sellers to accept returns. You came across some bad luck with multiple buyers within a short period of time. There is really nothing you can do. They can return. Just don't fight returns. Receive the item back and then issue the refund upon return then sell the item to another buyer. It's all part of business. Ebay views you as a business which is no different from a brick and mortar store. In this business you will get very picky people.

You have cool items for sale and photos are good...so it's buyers who might be impulse shopping.

I do that when I have a few too many glasses of 🍷🍷 at night.

I would  feedbacks for buyers after you receive feedback from them first...I never leave feedback immediately unless it's a 'repeat buyer' or a very cheapie item.

And at some point block the buyers...if buyer leaves feedback...that's the time to block them...not before. Some buyers get mad if they get blocked and haven't left feedback yet for a returned item.

You would probably enjoy reading one of my listings. In each description there is the same statement that buying online can be hard when you can not touch, try on evaluate in person etc. I do everything I can to avoid petty people scammers etc. How I leave feedback is clearly spelled out in my last paragraph. You and I are in agreement. I am frustrated that EBay cowls to chargebacks they don’t have to anymore credit card companies are cracking down on people who abuse the chargeback option.

I find a lot of sales activity here that look staged - obviously suspicious user names - canned communications - low to no feedback buyers that cancel or return with primitive 3 word requests...

It makes no sense...

But tell me @foryunz  - how many more returns will it take to put you below standard so you'll need to pay the sites 6% fines?
