Hi,
I ordered an item shipping from Mid Michigan, I am in TN. My tracking says it’s in City of Industry, CA? Meanwhile, with a bad feeling in my gut, I contact seller. No response back?
Anyone have any knowledge, does this sound like it is a drop ship situation. Makes no sense… as it appear the seller has the item in hand.
thank you 😎

I dunno, but doing the math I was charged sales tax based on CA rate rather than MI!?

"
Hold up. You are in TN. You ordered from Michigan and it's in California? Either that's a very scenic route or your seller is lying about where the item is.
Now, that doesn't mean you won't get it. It just means something is fishy and I'd wait to see where it came from before I left any feedback. I check locations when I buy and that might upset me a little bit to be lied to.
In the meantime, keep an eye on tracking, see where it's heading and make sure you know what to do if it doesn't show."
Lots of drop shippers here. The last three orders I got, one from Walmart, one from Sam's Club and another from Amazon. If you check the sellers location the giveaway is 'several locations in the US'. During the pandemic I was ok with some of this...the pandemic is not over yet but my patience is wearing out.
If I wanted to buy from someplace other than eBay I would do so.

"Things get incorrectly routed all the time. I had a package going from North Dakota to Indiana end up routing through Guam and Hawaii before it got there."
Lol...had a package go to Puerto Rico before it got to me on the West Coast...I guess it wanted a vacation.

You are in TN you should have been charged the sales tax or your state + any county, municipality or other local taxes you may have. The tax is based on where the buyer is located or the package's final destination.

What is the eBay estimated delivery date? As others mentioned don't panic until that date arrives. It appears that the tracking number is not valid or not being found for some reason. If the estimated delivery date is past, given there is no tracking information I would simply open an INR case with eBay or a chargeback with your CC company but only do one not both.

You are the buyer, right? As the buyer, you should have been charged the STATE SALES TAX based on your location in Tennessee. The sales tax is charged to the buyer based on the buyer's delivery location. In your case, isn't that Tennessee?

Per your original post, you are the buyer and you are in Tennessee.
The state sales tax to the buyer is based on the buyer's delivery address.
Is your delivery address in a state other than Tennessee?

And you've decided that, since the seller has 4 feedbacks, from two different people, that these feedbacks were from "friends, family"? Why?

Most carriers use "spoke and hub" delivery systems.
Your purchase went to a terminal where it was grouped with dozens or hundreds of other parcels going to roughly the same destination.
The truck heads out to that destination.
There is a tornado at the preferred destination, and the truck is redirected.
The truck is unloaded at the new destination, added to a different bunch of parcels and off they go again.
This time, instead of heading south they go west.
This time, on arrival the package and its fellows goes further south west.
And so on and so on.
Eventually all the parcels are on a plane from California to Florida.
And from there to Tennessee.
Arriving the day before the first estimated delivery date.
Keep in mind that your purchase is not alone, it is with a pallet of other stuff heading in roughly the same direction.

Another part of the problem may be that you are Searching on a phone rather than a desktop or laptop.
Phone apps tend to be more glitchy, particularly if they were designed for computers, then adapted.

seller dispatched the package. item picked up by this distribution centre. now the tracking number has changed and no more information is happening. now over 50 days and well over due. Ebay distribution centre contact is un contactable, tracking has stopped and states that the package has been delivered. Not to the address of the buyer in Australia

Are you saying that it was marked as delivered at the distribution center or it was marked as delivered to someone else after that? The delivery scan in the US doesn't count as being delivered to the buyer so that shouldn't cause a problem. But either way, the buyer should open an item not received claim through their purchase history if they are within the 30 days after the expected delivery date. If there was just the one delivery scan and the claim is opened in time, ebay should refund the buyer if this was an ebay international shipping transaction.
