The tracking said it was out for delivery to the right address in CA, then it got forwarded ton an address in GA. Buyer filed a claim and ebay refunded money because I had no proof that it was delivered to the right address. What can I do? Sent proirty mail small flat rate, which I understand to be insured. I do not have a mailing receipt because I shipped it from my mail box. Will PO cover it? I thought tracking was proof enough, I guess not. Any suggestions on course of action.

Contact the post office and explain whats going on. Your local PO can access all info. Ask them why it was forwarded. If the person had instructions to do so I would say its a scam. he or she had to deliberately tell the po to forward the item to another address. The PO would have no reason to forward it otherwise. They would have a slip from that person about forwarding mail. You then need to file an appeal and provide that info to ebay, and anything else they ask for. I would also file a police report of federal mail fraud and theft either with the post office police or your local police. and tell ebay you have filed and they may want some info related to that.

I bought a rubber stamp that I stamp every package with,
DO NOT FORWARD
In red ink and it’s stamped on the label I print out. Can’t miss it.

It is possible that USPS accidentally misdirected package. I had this happen to me where a package bounced all around the USA (eventually it was delivered to correct address).
USPS will NOT give refund is package is delayed or misdirected. Of course, if package NEVER arrives at correct address then you can file claim for LOST PACKAGE on USPS.com. Priority Mail has "free insurance of $50" (just attach EBAY invoice to prove value of item).

To appeal eBay’s ruling, see link below with the how-to’s.
Also, it is my understanding that forwarded mail is not eligible for a Money Back Guarantee case, see second link for the policy. (Did the buyer open an Item Not Received case, i assume?) The policy states that “mail redirection” —which is forwarded mail— is not covered or eligible for the Item Not Received eBay MBG. Anyway, possibly something to include in your appeal. Good luck.

I recommend that you Always Get a Mailing Receipt from the USPS when you Ship a Package..
It makes a difference when you have an Issue like this one...since it shows the Zip Code you are Shipping To...
and the Tracking Number on the Package...so you have Proof that you did the Right Thing...The Buyer
should Not have been Refunded...I would try to contact eBay Costumer Service through Facebook and explain...

Thanx for all the replies, and I will do what suggested in the future. Ebay customer service is a joke, a bad joke if you are a seller. I have gone out of my way in the past to make sure my buyers are happy. Maybe this guy is legit and the PO screwed up. Here was my last email from an ebay rep. Hard to make sense of. Pathetic.
Hello Kenneth,
"Thank you for your time and effort in contacting eBay for assistance about the ENPHASE CT-200-SPLIT Split Core Consumption Monitoring (234531739076). I appreciate how you have been patient in sorting this out. I want you to know I am here to assist you.
Upon my review of the details of the claim, this is because when the case was closed tracking didn't confirm delivery.
The information you provided indicates that item was delivered after we closed this case. We won't be able to review any additional appeals on this case. To avoid this, ensure items are delivered to your buyers by the estimated delivery date.
No worries Kenneth since we’ve seen this before with some of our members, and we’ve seen success in resolving transaction issues when buyers and sellers communicate. As long as you will use our eBay messaging system, we will definitely help you get them notified about the issue.
Please know that as a selling platform, we consider confirmed deliveries as proof of delivery.
I'm confident I have addressed your concern for today. We appreciate your understanding. Thank you for being one of the best parts of eBay and I wish you all the best.
Thanks,
Romulo
eBay Customer Support"
I sent my tracking # after the case was closed, my bad. I thought ebay could see it as I do on the website. Maybe they just don't want to look. I sell as much as I can through other venues. Items I have now are best suited to Ebay unfortunately. Buyer biased ebay as usual.

Happy to announce that on appeal, Ebay reversed their decision and found in my favor. My money has been refunded and case closed. I sent them the tracking # and quoted the no return policy on forwarded mail and voila. I know Paypal is not part of ebay. Paypal froze my acct earlier this year and I had to file a lawsuit to get my funds released. I closed my paypal acct permanantly, thiev"n crooks there. Cant say enuff bad about PYPL. So ebay finding for me goes a ways in restoring my internet faith. Thankyou Ebay Gods.

Any buyer can steal any item from any seller by filing a fraudulent dispute. Some might argue that if the INR failed, the buyer could have just filed a SNAD instead and ripped you off a different way.

I made some DO NOT FORWARD labels in my photo editor. Feel free to copy or down load this sheet and print it. . Can be cut out and taped next to the shipping label.

I have been selling on ebay for over 20 years.
I have never had a forwarding problem and never had the need to put "do not forward" on any of my packages.
Which makes me wonder, what other "do not" warnings should I be putting on my packages?
