A little help?

I currently have a bunch of things from personal collections listed. None were listed as being available for international sale but somehow someone from Brazil has bought (but not paid for) one of my items. This item has free shipping. I certainly am not paying for shipping an item to Brazil on my dime when it wasn’t even supposed to be an option. Will ebay allow this through the payment process without the buyer paying for shipping?

Is the "someone from Brazil" using a freight forwarder located in the US?

If not, they should not have been able to buy from you.

And, yes, unless this is straightened out, eBay will allow this transaction because your listing states F/S.

Is your buyer using a freight forwarder in the USA to deliver into South America? If yes, then is very likely that ebay will allow the order to take place on the platform. However, your responsibility would only be to the USA address. If you didn't select any international shipping options & the buyer is requesting you to deliver to South America, then the platform should have blocked the order from taking place.

@pepper1202

If you have your shipping exclusions/requirements set appropriately (looks like you do), a buyer must have a US 'ship to' address to bid or buy.  EBay allows international users to use a US based freight forwarders, or other person with an in country address to bypass your requirement.  You will be shipping to the US address, and not be required to ship to Brazil.

When (if) the buyer pays, you'll be able to see the shipping address. It might be a freight-forwarding service here in this country, and in that case you'd be shipping to a US address.

If the buyer pays with an address in Brazil, you could cancel the sale for the reason "problem with buyer's address."

If the buyer doesn't pay, after 4 days you can cancel the sale for nonpayment. You'll get your fees back, and the buyer won't be able to leave feedback.

If you haven't already done this, be sure to go into your Account Settings > Shipping Settings > Exclude Shipping Locations. Block the countries you don't want to ship to. This doesn't prevent buyers who use a domestic freight forwarder from purchasing from you, but will block buyers who want direct shipping to their country.

Right, I’ve had several instances of buyers using freight forwarders before. I’m hoping this is the case. I got worried when I saw they are listed as being based in Brazil.

Do you have the automatic Four Unpaid Days =Cancellation set up?
If not you can open an Unpaid Item Dispute, get your fees back, prevent the deadbeat from leaving feedback, and giving him a Strike.

International buyers are usually pretty savvy about the real cost of shipping, but your deadbeat many not have realized that his forwarder would be charging him shipping, plus a service charge, plus duty and sales taxes.
