60k per month down to zero. Ebay manipulation?

So first time ever posting on here as thing have been great for last ten years.  I was even ebay shine finalist for global business of the year last year.  Things were looking ok through March and then things started going south.  Down 10% from same period last year, then 20%, 30%, 40%.  Now the last 3 days I have sold $120 total.  Last year I averaged over $2200 per day.

I cant help but feel like someone waved the magic wand to kill my sales.  I have been top rated and 100% feedback for 5 straight years, free shipping, free returns, blah blah blah.  I refuse to do promoted listings because my net has gone from 30% done to around 15-20% trying to keep up and give them another 5% of the top  would cut my profits by a third.

My point is I have always had a steady increase year to year.  I always added steady amount of listing going up by about 10% per year.  Every year has been better than last....last year was a huge boost and was joking about ebay manipulating things to boost my sales right before the ebay open so the shine group would be happy and spread the good word at the open in las vegas.....

Now fast forward to exact same time this year.  I feel like not only did the undo the magic wand, I feel like I must have made someone upset in the powers that be and they have black balled me.  I can not explain how for 10 years good steady sales everyday, 20-30 high dollar sales per day every day down to 1-3 sales per day.

When I ask if ebay can manipulate  sales to concierge people they have mixed answers.  I have gotten that while there are many parameters there is one thing like a "reputation" type variable that is literally subjective and has nothing to do with pictures, or feedback or all the tangible things.

While realize ebay is going down (already dead compared to other platforns; 3% of sales compared to amazon) I have been loyal and only sell on ebay.  This is passed going down, this is drained and empty.  Devastated  to say the least

Interesting thought....I did open another store for a project for me kids to get them selling on ebay and had some issues trying to sell pop sockets.....they kept getting flagged for trade mark over and over even though I would call and try not to make an error with the pop socket trademark. I don't think they would crossover for different stores but maybe?

Yes, and no. I called about a month ago when the sales kept falling and they opted me out....the problem is did not work and thought I would hope for the best.....called again to opt out and rep said good to go. Still on there so I am going to have manually remove them 200 at a time (x50) at about 2 mins each batch.

On a side note, having multiple trademark violation takedowns “over and over” can get an account suspended. This is worrisome—one account gets in trouble, all of them are affected.

It is best not to relist an item that has been removed by eBay. Regardless of whether customer service says it is now ok to list, or even if the violation has been incorrectly applied, even if you fix the problem, it is very risky to relist it.

Once on eBay’s radar, the seller has to be even more careful not to get a violation. There is a cumulative effect and then one finds they are paying more in Final Value fees and facing a down-graded account.

Yes I ahve looked at your site. You have great inventory, I think eBay is sending you down the River. This is the feeling I get every day but for me it is the artsy site and not the river.

We would add to that list of highlights the provision that would require greater transparency in search rankings - many a seller would love to know why their listings may appear further down in search than other listings.

That E-commerce bytes story is hogwash. California wanting all sellers to carry liability insurance. Booksellers, clothes sellers, antique sellers, everyone would have to have liability insurance. Everyone.

Most of what comes out of that site is half baked nonsense.  You can not be viewed as a quality source when ever article is slanted against eBay.

Good Luck Selling!

The best thing to do is move away from eBay. Same thing happened to us, our sales dropped from 50K per month to 8K exactly on Sept 1 2017 despite constantly adding new inventory with about 150 new listings a week. We sell used car parts so Amazon is no good.

We tried everything in the book: free shipping, free returns, guaranteed deliver, same day shipping, pictures on white background; adding item specific such as brand, MPN, UPC, item color, etc; removing old inventory, ending listing every 30 days and sell similar, tiered sales, promoted listings, volume pricing…. And so on..

Nothing worked.

About 4 months ago, my partners and I decided to close the business. I’m selling what’s left in the warehouse for 6 months and the rest is going to the dump.

Could opting in to eBay UK have anything to do with it? I have done this on some listings and I have noticed my sales have stopped. I'm thinking that I am going to delete everything and start over. I have already deleted about 20 listings and that did nothing. Could they have opted me in to web interpet without me knowing because of Ebay UK?

Now that really sucks as you have been here since 2005. Ebay is not the same Ebay is use to be. Have you tried opening up your own website ?

eBay is doing something to some of my listings. ISBN 9780801970771, it's a motorcycle manual. When you put in the ISBN directly into eBay search it shows up. And it shows up in book finder right on the top for used so that's good. BUT, when you Google this ISBN It's not there but there is another eBay listing for this book right on the top of page. When you click this on it takes you to the listing. But when you scroll down you see the others that are listed but Not Mine. And when you click on see similar Mine is not there. I just lowered the price by $2.00 and the new price is not there unless you go directly into my listing. This listing has been up for about a month. They buried it before it ever had a chance at selling. That's why I have said that new listings sometimes never show up as new listings when your being throttled....
