I am brand new to selling and I have a lot of inventory to sell. My cheapest item is valued at over $2000 but eBay won’t let me sell above 500. If I list the item in an auction at 500 and the item sells for more, would I get credit to a additional purchase price if the item does sell for more than 500? Thank you to anybody who will listen

Remember you start it at a price, it may bring that price:
A rule to eBay to remember: If you can not afford to lose the money and item: do not list it.
Seller limits can be found here:

The limits are there for a very good reason - to protect buyers from new sellers, and to protect new sellers from scam buyers.
You need to build up to selling expensive items here. You are new and new sellers have a huge target on their backs. I've been here almost 18 years and no way no how would I even consider listing a $500 item - and I know how to handle every scam out there.
I can't count the number of new sellers who come here all the time crying that they lost their expensive item to a scam, because they didn't now how to recognize a scam and what to do.

The limits are not something you can get around by playing with the numbers on an auction. If the rules are unsatisfactory to you, you may need to rethink your selling strategy on another venue.

I would never sell a 2000.00 item on ebay. The scamers would be circling like sharks

EBay has you limited to selling $500. Don't try to bend the rules, you may be blacklisted. It would be less risky to sell expensive items locally. Try selling smaller items to get the hang of it. As a new seller you are a target for scammers. (scammers target eBay as well).
I suggest you actually read the terms you agreed to when you signed up.
"New sellers have a 10 item selling limit with a total value of $500 per month. This means that, during the month, you can sell no more than 10 items for a total of $500. This is the standard limit for all new eBay sellers."

Whatever you do, dont list anything for $500 right off the get go.
Don't even contemplate $2000.

A new and unwary seller, selling expensive items? A scam magnet! Be thankful that eBay is limiting you.

Does it never occur to new sellers that maybe the limits that eBay places on their selling are put there to protect them? It's like the floaties that are put on small youngsters who are learning to swim. And new sellers swimming on eBay can be in shark-infested waters.

Ebay is doing you a GREAT FAVOR. New sellers + high value items is like chumming in shark filled waters. It's like rigging the dinner bell for every scammer out there.
If I ran eBay new sellers would be limited to items valued at $50 or less for the first 3 months or 100 sales.

I've been selling here since 2011 and there's no way I would list a $2000 item.
Scammers will be all over you, being a new seller.
I've been on here since 2004 and I top out at around $500.

Appreciate the feedback. I'm very new so I'm reading every experienced ebay sellers' comments. Great quotes by the way, Thomas Sowell is an absolute legend.
