Hi. About three weeks ago I sold a pretty expensive item (about $2000). Shipped it through eBay by Priority with Signature Confirmation, tracking automatically uploaded, and didn't think about it again until last night, when the buyer opened an Item Not Received case. Buyer also wrote and said they did not receive it and asked if I insured it.
I check the tracking, and it shows delivered, three weeks ago, and signed for by the buyer! It was sent to their PO box, a confirmed address.
Still, when I logged into PayPal I had a big red -$2000 deficit that I was forced to pay back, using my credit card, when I purchased some other items using PayPal (the $2000 was tacked on to the invoice).
Question is, should I call and escalate the case, or wait? Normally I would wait, but it's a pretty large amount, and I'd like to get it refunded ASAP... on the other hand, I have read posts on this forum saying NOT to call eBay and escalate, and to just wait it out. So now I'm not sure what to do.
Assuming the buyer does not respond to the case, how long do I have to wait before eBay steps in?

Upload tracking, call, and ask them to close the case while you remain on the phone.
This shold be a slam dunk for you.

Call ebay NOW. Like, right now, this minute. Stop typing. Call!

OP please do as previously stated, and do come back and let us know what happens. As stated, it should be a slam dunk for you!
Good Luck to you.

This= Plus keep evertything because a PayPal case will probably follow.
This should be a slam dunk because they had a PO Box. I wouldn't say too much yet but the threat of a Postal investagation with possible video may be needed. If you want to get ahead of it find out where his PO box is and start sleuthing.

I wouldn't even deal with eBay. I would immediately call PayPal . They're the financial institution. My opinion
If the case is with eBay it needs to be taken up with eBay

Well, not exactly.
The money is being Held, and is not available for your use until the Dispute is settled.
Respond to the PP Dispute with the tracking number.
It may take a day or so, which is annoying and nerve-wracking, but remember there are legitimate Disputes out there and PP has to start by accepting that everyone is acting honestly.
The buyer does NOT have the money.
And when you show PP that he DOES have the item, the Hold will be lifted.
In the meantime... a nice glass of Shiraz and a brownie, perhaps?
