1st timer ebay user. I made a couple of mistakes with posting my item. Mostly by not realizing ebay defaults, my bad I was cautioned in my messages by one interested party. I investigated the guidance, found it to be true and was unable to cancel the item and I was a 34 hours from bidding. I was unable to get a live person or find an answer to my specific concerns in the forum. Am I able to cancel the entire deal, not ship my item, and just step away? If so, what happens to "ebay name" am I given a black mark so to speak? Thx

What mistakes were made? What does “34 hours from bidding” mean? Has your auction ended with a winning bidder?

Good questions. There are a lot of missing pieces of information in this posting. Hopefully the OP adds some clarity.

I'm not sure what the question / issue is, either. But the auction ended yesterday, with 9 bids and a winning bid of $1,234.00:

If your item sold, as a Seller, you are expected to honor a sale.
If you are a new seller, expect there to be a hold on the payout initially.
Why would you not want to honor your sale?
Eta: How did a brand new Seller start an item at $999.00??

What defaults are you referring to?
Why wouldn't you ship sgnature delivery required after the buyer won and paid?

O boy. New seller, 1 October 2021, and the first item sold is in excess of $1.2K. Not sure where the buyer is located but seller listing was posted with buyer does not accept returns. It is shipping priority mail so hopefully seller purchases additional insurance and obtains delivery signature.

Yes, your number one mistake was to list an expensive item as your first sale item. If you don't plan to sell anything else then you can just refund and walk away. Otherwise you will have to weigh the pros and cons. Look carefully at the feedback rating of the buyer. And if you do ship, make sure to have signature confirmation and notify the buyer that a signature will be required as per Ebay guidelines.

Hard to understand why a new seller was allowed to start his selling career with such a high-priced item.
If I were you, I'd be praying that the bidder does not pay.

This is happening all over ebay now. It is evident from numerous naïve questions coming from brand new sellers who did little to no research before taking the plunge. Ebay is struggling to tell the difference between a quote from a dead President and legit contact info. It doesn't surprise me that they can't keep new sellers from getting scammed on expensive listings.
