1099 Report - Settlement Date - Why is this IRS reporting data not available to Sellers?

devon@ebay

The 1099 and the subsequent back up report are driven by the [Settlement date].

While this makes sense, there is an issue. Unless I am going blind, the Settlement Date is not provided on any report on eBay and is not available to a Seller except for the 1099 detail back up report.

This means that data has to be manipulated manually every year to reconcile to the 1099.  If this date is being used to report data to the IRS, this date should be available to the seller at the transaction level throughout the year somewhere.

I have a difference of about $700 dollars. I know what the difference is, but I cannot show the difference without manipulating raw data from eBay. Manipulated data does not fly with the IRS. I cannot say "Well, eBay uses this date, but I don't have it, so I have to change my data to match their 1099".

Can the [Settlement Date] please be added to the Transaction Report?

I understand that depending on when the report would be pulled, this date may be blank, but this would really help reconciling taxes at year end (and for an audit).

While I am on the things that would be REALLY helpful, on the 1099 backup report, the [Item Title] is provided but not the [Item ID]. Can the [Item ID] be provided on this report. You are already pulling the title from the transaction.

I know that for a multi-item order the [Item ID] is not provided at the order level but the [Item ID] can still be provided on the report just as you are already pulling the [Item Title].

Sellers sell individual items, not orders. An order may contain multiple items, sourced from multiple locations, each with a different cost of goods and tax associated with the item.

If I have a discrepancy, I have to find the order, then the title from the 1099 report, then go hunt for the order and title, and then finally, find the item ID to figure out what Item is being reported on the 1099 back up.

Neither of these fields should be difficult to add to either report as you are already tracking the data.

That is not true.  You are assuming something because you don't know where to find it.

Go to your Seller Hub.  Then the Payments tab.  Select Reports from the drop down menu.  Put in the dates you want and download your report.  It will likely give you more information than you want.  I download mine into MS Excel and rearrange the report as it works best for me.
