1099-K Reported Numbers Do Not Match

Has anybody else recently got their 1099K from eBay and noticed that the reported numbers are doubled?

With the records I keep i had a good idea of what my gross sales would be this year. The #s that were sent on my 1099K however did not match my records or even the records on eBay own sales reports. My best guess is if you look at the first picture you'll notice how each "Box" is listed and then repeated. The Box 1a on the list 17,356.46 is the correct number. But if you look at the second picture Box 1a reports double that amount 34712.92. Who should I contact to get this corrected? Thanks

Just received the 1099-K today and ours is also showing double the actual amounts shown in eBay's own monthly 1099-K reports at https://www.ebay.com/sh/fin/taxforms.

Will you continue gathering user ID's or is there some other way we need to contact eBay about this error without wasting time with customer service reps who aren't aware of this issue and these threads?

I've started tagging seller comments with Double Trouble for those who are having a gross income that's double the actual amounts.

If you're having the doubling problem on your 2021 tax year 1099-K gross income, then please tag your comment with Double Trouble and I'd suggest subscribing to the 1099-K - Reported Amounts Double thread thread so we're not mixing topics and having conversations all over the place.

If you're not sure, you can compare your monthly "1099-K details" tab amounts to your yearly "1099-k forms" tab amount.

If you have an issue that's not related to the gross income being double, then please check the other recent 1099-K threads thread for other topics and issues.

Thank God I wasn't the only one. It my first time being a ebay seller. First time doing 1099k. 3 Days, I was trying to figure out why my 1099k is double of what my sale gross online stated. Finally reach out to ebay. While chatting with them online yesterday, I noticed the 2nd pages of that tiny print. It shown it was double statement. Ebay stated that my 1099k was indeed incorrect & that the update 1099k with be ready online in 4 business days.

I've called and I get the generic response of "You must send a itemized excel list of transactions that are incorrect." Which absolutely makes no sense in this situation.

I was able to call and speak with tier 1 CS who recognized the issue and escalated it to a supervisor. It took about 15-20 minutes to reach the supervisor but she quickly realized that the 1099 was incorrect. She opened a case and sent it to the specialized "tax team" who are suppose to contact me within 5 business days and issue a corrected 1099.

I used the chat feature and that got me nowhere. It took 4 separate calls to CS to find the right agent to escalate my call to a supervisor.

The other 3 insisted that I send them an itemized list of transactions. So that they can review each transaction.

I got ahold of a very nice Rep, Mary. On the call she contacted “the right department to deal with this issue.” I was on hold for 20 minutes. She came back and said it will be corrected in 2-3 days. Will receive new copy in the mail in 5-7. 

She really was the most professional and caring rep I’ve ever got ahold of from ebay. I’m really hoping this will fix the issue. Sitting here with no confirmation, waiting, isn’t fun. 

If it does get fixed I’ll update as soon as it does.

In my case, double reporting. I asked her if she has received other calls about this issue, and she said No.

Oh I didn't call. Every time I called for some issues they go around in circles with me. I just do live chat with them yesterday. I explain them the issues. Sent them a screen shot of my online sale gross and screen shot of my 1099k form...from there they just say they will send me a new update in 4 business days in online. I don't know if that true. But I just have to wait & see.

It should not be this hard. Now the question is whether or not you'll see a correction and you have to wait a week to find out.

It seems eBay has made it their top priority to fix the incorrectly issued 1099k forms for California residents. Which I agree, is a big issue. They have fixed it and sent a message to every effected seller within a couple days.

What I’m confused about, is how is reporting DOUBLE the income not as big of a deal? The only response we got from ebay is Jasmine saying she will try to help and hasn’t replied since.
