1099-K Reported Numbers Do Not Match

Has anybody else recently got their 1099K from eBay and noticed that the reported numbers are doubled?

With the records I keep i had a good idea of what my gross sales would be this year. The #s that were sent on my 1099K however did not match my records or even the records on eBay own sales reports. My best guess is if you look at the first picture you'll notice how each "Box" is listed and then repeated. The Box 1a on the list 17,356.46 is the correct number. But if you look at the second picture Box 1a reports double that amount 34712.92. Who should I contact to get this corrected? Thanks

Yea I meant income (seller taxes). I keep forgettkng that ebay charges us fees on buyer tax. Buyer tax is not on 1099k as it is not seller portion.

How come I am getting 1099's from Ebay and I've NEVER sold anything? Have you been hacked, and are hiding it?

I've been tracking everything all year by the monthly sales reports.  My 1099 shows up, and only 3 out of 12 months have correct numbers. The others months show that I made more than I actually did. How is that possible?

Any credits from eBay may also be included in the form as such is also considered income.

The total should be the total amount minus the tax if any. No other amount removed (shipping, final value fees etc)  would be removed from the total you receive..

Any credits also may, or may not be included.

I am dealing with the same issue. The amounts on the 1099-k do not match the amounts that I received in my bank. Also they added refunds they gave me that had nothing to do with anything I sold.

Can you Explain this to me. I sold one item for $270.00 eBay paid you me $233.35 via my Chase account

but you are reporting $270 on my 1099-K.

it makes no sense. If I claim $270 on my taxes it is as if I made $270 from selling the item. I only made $233.35.

Seller fees, postage, etc. are deductible.  The $270 is NOT the taxable income, it is the reportable income.  Take the appropriate deductions to make the reportable income the taxable income.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Same problem here.  1099K monthly totals DO NOT MATCH ebay's own month to month reports.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Meanwhile, enjoy the higher seller fees.

Absolutely unreal EBay is doing this to people. Our 1099k shows less than the online amount. We can not figure out where the difference even is. These “glitches” eBay calls them are being reported directly to the IRS!! eBay better be getting their **bleep** together. It’s up to them to AMEND these forms to the IRS.

Jasmen, once these 1099k forms are fixed, can you tell me specifically which information from my ebay seller report will match what is reported on the 1099k for each month?  For example right now, my 1099k form shows $8,609.27 for January, should in theory the "Gross Transaction Amount" from the seller report match that total?  Because almost all of my sales were just downsizing a collection i have had many years, i have to go through and ensure everything matches and then show how much each item was worth when i purchased it vs how much it sold for and report any captiol gains.

I can't determine the tax amount because when I got my data download Ebay doesn't include the sales tax line items in the download.

But the big brains here keep telling us the sales tax IS included in the 1099.

I could just subtract the 2 but it is damned sloppy.
