Trying to decide if it's worth switching to 10-day auctions and 10-day handling because of a trip. Does that just mean aggravated buyers?

10 day auctions cost per auction and the minute it is listed you get charged per auction.
I was hoping you respond.
You have a lot of experience...tons of experience where we can actually see you are selling items and you know the whereabouts.

So YMMV.
Depends on the vacation here whether I make listings visible and able to purchase, or hide them.
Going overseas, definitely hide the listings. Doing a family thing for a few days, I'll let them purchase and message them to let them know I'm away and remind them when I'm coming back.
I don't really think of a family thing as much a vacation, just time away from home and away from being able to ship items... when I go overseas there is no regular stuff happening at all, it's strictly for wasting lots of time doing nothing.

I just read a reply that the 10 day fee went away... I don't use 10 day auctions (two reasons, for one, no one bids on them until the last day anyway... except a few "place holder bids" to remind them to come back), and for two I thought there was a fee so I wasn't going to go there. Anything to save money.
But I still say if you're running auctions and away for a while, best to hold off on auctions until you come back. (Fixed Priced Listings I understand having those go while being away, but auction bidders don't realize the seller is absent).
I have plans to finish doing ALL my auctions by the beginning of October. I didn't want to take a break while away at the end of October, so I thought it would be best to finish with this collection before I go. If I get a new collection, I'll start auctions again when I get back... but it's unlikely I'll get a new collection soon, unless one comes into the shop and they want me to auction it.

Yea...10 day auction fee went away...how is anyone suppose to keep up with changes all the time.
Would be nice if we got an email about this change or that change....in a personally email...since we are sellers.

That is precisely the thing. I sat down and wrote out a calendar with all the details of 10-day auctions and handling then asked myself would the Earth REALLY cease to spin on it's axis if I was basically off for two weeks?

Well, auctions are by far the way I make money, especially since I basically quit Amazon. It's been pretty great, thanks in part to some determined repeat buyers. But 10 days just feels like too long for an auction.

I guess I'll just use Time Away and also stop listing auctions from tomorrow to a week later. No 10-day auctions. I really badly need the time I'll save not listing auctions to list stuff in my store. Also sorting and getting rid of stuff.....basically the tasks I have trouble making time for usually.

I haven't gotten to any listing or processing yet this week... I've had a sale on tokens and some regular buyers are messaging me offers for tokens (for a better deal than the sale price), so I'm finding myself with 40 messages to answer each evening when I finish work.
I'd like to get new listings up tonight, but I'm currently stressing over my shipper because parcels aren't showing up in USPS yet (and should have in the past few hours). I'm not trusting them too much today because of something they messed up on with one of my shipments. (And the customer who's shipment was messed up ordered more stuff, and his package is one of the ones I'm waiting to show up on USPS tonight).
You'd save time if you aren't doing auctions for a few weeks and can get caught up, I'd save time if I didn't stress about stuff I can't really control. I'm sure it will be resolved tomorrow, but I can't wait that long.

For the decades I've been selling online any time I've been away I've found ways to check my email and respond to people and I expect our cabin will have adequate wi-fi. I am sure I will bank some listings to launch at least one day I'm away.
One challenge will be organizing the space I use for auctions. Maybe enough will sell that I won't have a major headache organizing the space but I need to be realistic about that!

Cabin on a ship?...Or in the woods?
I worked on ships...

There's no charge for 10 day auctions.
Only 1 and 3-day auctions have a charge.
FWIW, the fee on 10 day auctions went away with the spring 2015 update.

On a lake (looking forward to it!), not much else around but they say they have wi-fi so we'll see.

There are 135 million active buyers on eBay.
I'm sure some would be aggravated, and some would not.
I just end all my listing when I go on a trip.
