If I'm not getting notifications, is the same true for people watching my items?

I didn't receive a notification when a bid was made on one of my items. I happen to be selling the two most expensive things I've sold since returning to Ebay, so I'm concerned that the several people watching those items aren't going receive notifications either and that it will result in lower winning bids. Is anyone anyone else having problems with notifications?
