Hi @g12johsmit,

Thanks for posting, I'm sorry to hear you're having issues signing in.

From what you described, it sounds like it could be two things:

1) Two Factor Authentication is enabled on your account. To review/confirm this, and disable if needed, you can visit the two factor authentication section of this page: https://accounts.ebay.com/acctsec/security-center

2) If #1 isn't the case, it may be as simple as a security block on the account prompting this action. To address this, you will need to contact one of our security specialists. We don't have a contact option in the help pages for this exact situation, but you can use this page to select any contact reason, and once you are connected with a representative, describe the issue and ask for a security specialist, and they will make sure to get you to the right spot: https://www.ebay.com/help/call_us?type=ContactUs&initFrom=ARTICLE&topicId=4000

Hope this helps!

Make sure your browser is not deleting your history, cache, and cookies when exiting it. If eBay doesn't find a certain cookie when you try to log in, it thinks it's a new computer. If you are deleting your browsing history, make an exception for eBay's log in page.

logging in trouble

This is very similar to what happens to me after turning on 2FA (which I had to do because I use a VPN and was tired of ebay locking my account every time I log in because it thinks due to the VPN that I'm logging in from someplace new). My experience is slightly different, I get hit by a recapcha on the first login and it generates a security code for my phone but never asks for it on the site, the site just rejects the login. Then the second time I log in it sends another security code and also asks for it so I can enter that and log in. Third party applications such as bid sniping tools also no longer work even though authorized. I wish ebay would fix this serious bug instead of just trying to help people to work around it.

I expect a VPN (typically used to obfuscated IP tracking) to have a major problem with eBay security.

I have a similar, but less severe issue when using "private browsing". While logged into the forums under this ID, I open a private browsing window to access my other accounts. I don't use two-factor due to the complications involved. Typically, the captcha thing appears, and when I get past that, I'm often asked to enter my three secret questions (which are not populated because of this trap).  I ignore the secret questions and click my bookmark for the eBay home page to bypass the questions and get in.

If I log out before closing the private window, I may be encountering captcha less often when going to the next account, but that is not a sure bet.
