Hi folks. I need backup of my inventory, including item descriptions. Ebay's way of downloading reports of active listings does not include descriptions in its csv files. I don't need the image, but I do need the description and all the other basic data. I guess I need to be able to create a CSV that could be used offline and would be generic enough to be used with a third party software. If this is not possible to be done through ebay can somebody recommend the simplest program, even paid option that will allow me to do this as a one time thing. Not interested in any other platform integrations, just need it for this basic task. Thanks a lot!!

This tool will extract descriptions from your active listings.
https://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/ActiveContentEditor.htm
Enter seller name, eBay site, and click the button to retrieve listings.
For archiving, when the Scan Setup screen opens, uncheckmark all of the boxes and checkmark the "Force Archive" option at the top; then start the scan.
When the scan completes, a third screen will give three drop-open format options.
Each of those options will produce zip files. Choose the one that suits your needs. The downloads labeled "original" are not available with the "Force Archive" option.
The descriptions are stored by Item Number, so match to your other eBay reports using that item number.

Thanks a lot!!! Looking into it right now. So far, I was able to get the descriptions along w the item numbers but no other info. Trying to see if I can get the whole entry with all the info + description.

The third drop open window on that tool will provide some of the data that the tool pulled in for the "report", but the info is limited.
Use eBay's Seller Hub Report "Download" option to get your active listing data directly from eBay.

Is there a way to export all columns from listings, I wanted to have a backup of all my listings

It seems a large number of sellers who ask this question would like an entire listing downloaded as the start to creating listings in bulk, or simply as a backup tool. But eBay has no such tool.
These are the columns that can be downloaded in an eBay Active Listings report at
Seller Hub > Reports > Downloads.
https://www.ebay.com/sh/reports/downloads
eBay's report is missing shipping & package details and item specifics, and there is no eBay download option for photos or description.
These three tools can separately pick up the item specifics, photos, and description:

Another alternative is to look at third party listing services as a method to save listing data offline. Sellers previously had eBay's Turbo Lister for Windows, which was fully retired a few years ago, and eBay has recommended migration to SixBit for Windows as a lookalike product.

Thank You, that was very helpful

none of these tools appear to work any more. Is there an updated version? I am trying to download a CSV file of all item numbers and descriptions so I can edit the ones which contain a specific word? Happy to the the editing manually on the site, but there are over 2000 listings and its taking too long to do a manual search

Most unfortunately, @shipscript is no longer able to be very active due to health concerns, and has not been able to maintain those tools. You should try some of their alternate suggestions.
