Hi everyone,
Email Marketing to our potential buyers who have subscribed to our
eBay newsletters is very important in helping us to make more sales.
I went to my eBay Newsletters under MANAGE MY STORE just now and I can not add a
custom email with HTML code like we used to be able to do. When and why did this change?
I am using Google Chrome on a desktop computer.
Thank you all so much for any feedback on this.

The reason you cannot have HTML or scripts in emails is to prevent anyone from hijacking a system or running malicious code (general sense)
What your emails can’t include

Also on a side note, I like your business idea, but you are at risk for INAD with this sort of stuff. Good Luck though!

No offense, but that is nonsense! Email Marketing from other companies is in HTML CODE and there is NO HIJACKING going on! HTML CODE, CSS CODE, JAVA, etc. are computer languages designed to make things happen on websites and are proper to use for the right things that users are trying to create.
I am a Wix Partner as well and I know all about computer coding.
All email campaigns sent are in HTML CODE and other codes from other companies.
Just saying! Thanks anyway...

Say what you like, but I have actually had a virus ported to my computer through clicking a link. This was not from an email, but the mechanics are the same.
That being said, eBay is not erring on the side of caution, they're taking over how everyone sells. I have had to cut out video (and yes, I know about shipscript's utility), links sending people to articles describing concepts for my sales, had them take over my coding on the listing description, and now they have taken over how people buy my seed.
My sales dropped from around 900 in a month for May of last year to 79 dollars May of this year. I made more in March this year, than I did since they changed all the structure, forcing the seller hub, and whatever else they're not telling us.

I understand. I have gotten used to the new emails now
and I like the layout of them.
I am so sorry to hear this! I do not want to stop selling on ebay,
but I may have to because my category of "ebay store designs"
does not sell well like it did back in 2006 and 2007.
I wish eBay would care more about what we are selling
and promote us more as designers like myself are here
to help eBay sellers be the best that they can be.

I am doing great on eBay and have no issues.
I sell more with my website though, so I may
have to stop selling on eBay.
