Just so eBay can see the real world ramifications of what the unified listing tool has done to is sellers.... This is a full time top rated anchor store seller that reached out to me yesterday!
i share this not because I have done vendetta against eBay but because this new tool has crippled millions of sellers. This is just one real world example of the conversations that are going on outside of the eBay headquarters.
There are plenty of people here on the board making excellent suggestions as to the needed improvements to get us back to something close to the superior classic listing tool- please listen and expedite the changes so eBay can grow again. It will never grow without the support of sellers!

Google changed the way that they pick up items off of internet sites like Ebay, Shopify and Etsy.
These new search tools are required so that Google will pick them up.

@whatmorefabric What does google search have to do with the listing tool user interface design?
The problem is that is overly mobile in design and not well suited for a desktop.

its about the same for me.I am no rookie at writing auctions
I use only 3 templates for variations of watches or countries I ship to
my cruising speed is about 67 minutes for 10 auctions to finish
i never have to change shipping..the old listing method was also about 7 minutes per listing
monday thru friday I write 10 auctions every morning, of course my pictures are ready to go in a folder on my desktop
I have only 2-3 required item specifics
one thing I learned is when you type them in you need to click on them for them to take
I also have learned to work form the top down, if you go back up to the category and change it then it wipes out your item specifics below and you have to fill them in again
I never bother with the item condition, its all used goods to me and I describe the condition in the description.
I also dont bother with most of the item specifics since most of the time my auctions are no reserve and a dollar start.
I also find that the categories are more intuitive.
if I am listing a watch movement rather than a watch then the movement category is at the top when I hit the category section.
the same thing happens if I have pocket watch in the title
I rarely have to type in the category finder since the most relevant one is at the top for me based on keywords in the title

BTW- I have full permission from the other person to show the text stream above- they want to help effect meaningful change so that they can list more efficiently and faster again.

@whatmorefabric Also- the listing process on Etsy, Shopify, Facebook, Macari, etc is all simpler and faster than listing on ebay with the unified listing tool. Those platforms are all growing while ebay is declining. People are reporting more sales on these other platforms than on ebay so if it is a matter of google integration..... how has the new listing tooled helped, if not having made it worse?
To be clear, 90% of may business is on ebay and I want us all and ebay to succeed.

Most sellers on Ebay do not use a desktop. They use mobile devices. I do all my listings on my tablet and not my desktop, because it is easier. To make a different interface for a desktop would be cost prohibited and developing a tool for a shrinking interface.
The new listing tools reflect the new reality of mobile devices and that sellers are on more than 1 site. The new listing tool is easier to interface with third party inventory apps.
It is a pain for all the item specifics, but this is how Google finds you.

Etsy does not have the customer base of Ebay so a 10 % increase on etsy will be fewer customers than a 10 % increase on Ebay. Trust me, Etsy is having it's problems . Amazon is pulling back on it's online growth as they now want profit from the Amazon sales site. Most of Amazon's growth and profit comes from it's web services, not it's online presence.
The new listing tool is a reflection that most sellers use Chrome Books, Apple Ipads, phones, devices with touch screens. Desktops will be like coal mines, are dying out.
Also how you list, whether it is by a mobile or desktop, does not effect sales. The fact that you might have had better sales on the old listing tool, has nothing to do with using a new listing tool.

I have not experienced the pain of the new unified listing tool but I sympathize with those who use it.
I would suggest looking into a third party listing tool - of which there are several - that can help reduce some of the pain (but not all). It can also help those who like to do 'drafts' only to sadly have them disappear. No, most are not free but....what is your time worth?
I have not used an eBay listing form/tool since about my third or fourth month selling on eBay back in the late 1990's. I have always used some sort of third party listing tool.

I agree with you that its not the listing tool that creates sales its the fact that i was actually listing more- that is a fact of ebay's algorithms if you have been here awhile..... its seems to "reward you with sales" if you keep a steady stream of new listings coming.
Even ebay has admitted that more people use desktops than mobile FOR SELLING. That is not the case for buyers as people do use there phones to search for sure. If yu lump the 2 together than yes it looks like more people use mobile on ebay , but in reality as concerning the listing tool - the fact that they have come so far in making it function like the classic version only proves how many people list with desktops.
Desktops will never die lol- they are more powerful and convenient to use for full time work. Every agent at ebay is using a desktop to work.... Ive asked every time i call lol.
Any way- this conversation wont make sense anymore since the moderator edited out the picture of the text stream- that was kind of the point to the whole thing.
