SixBit Questions

If I import my listings from eBay into sixbit does it pull in the images in so they will be on my computer or only http links to them which will eventually expire.

Can I have copies of sixbit on 2 computers to my partner can work on her account on her computer while I work on mine on my computer.

Can you import from one account and put the listings up on another as you can with TL?

I have listings that I only put up during listing sales. After the 6 months can I quit/suspend my subscription which is no longer free, keep the listings on my computer, and re-activate my subscription only if there is a listing special?

#1 - SixBit will pull in the images when it imports the data.  If you have a lot of listings and a lot of large images, this can be a problem, as the database is limited to 10G.  The answer is to set SixBit to store your images outside of the database, thereby freeing up a great deal of space for Items, Listings, & Sales data.  The import then should proceed without an issue.  If you are running enough listings and making enough sales to blow thru your 10G limit in just a few months, you should definitely move to one of the paid versions of MS SQL, where database size limits are greater or non-existent.

#2 - Yes & No.

Yes - you are allowed by the SixBit license to install the software on multiple computers for your specific use only.  Allowing a second member of your team to install the software is acceptable.  Allowing a friend to install it and use it is not.

No in that you would each have your own copy of the database, which may/may not present a problem for you.  SixBit on each computer will automatically import new listings found on eBay that are not in that computers SixBit database (we do this at the company I work at so some folks can post directly to eBay while the rest of us post from SixBit).  However, the Item numbers will not match, and subsequent Order number will not match either.  If your secondary user is only needing to create listings, you should be good.  Your system will be the one used for all processing while the secondary computer will only create listings, which the first system will import and integrate.

There are other issues depending on the use of templates, snippets, and other embedded data features.

#3 - Yes.  I currently run the Small Biz edition of SixBit and manage three selling accounts (all owned by me) and can swap Items between accounts quickly and easily.  I've set up saved Batch Changes to make a series of changes on all selected Items - what changed are made depends on what I want the Batch Change to do.  Moving between accounts, changing pricing (works best since 99% if my inventory is priced identically), or simply marking an Item as Sold Out.

SixBit will automatically update all supported accounts with each automatic refresh, so all accounts will be kept current.  And you can sort or filter your records (Items, Listings, Sales) by the account they are tied to, for convenience.

#4 - Probably.  Your database would still be there.  You'd probably need to re-authorize any accounts each time as the tokens may have expired in the off-period.  And it would depend on how frequently you receive promotions.  Store owners seldom receive promotions, whereas my non-Store accounts will receive some form of promotion almost every month.  Depending on your sales level and SixBit version you elect to use, the cost per listing could be as little as one cent, or the cost per sale could be as little as a nickle.  When I was selling full-time/self-employed, those were my cost figures for SixBit - about one cent if measured against listings, about a nickle when measured against sales.  Some months would be better than others, obviously, but over the 8 years I was self-employed, the one cent/five cent figure would be pretty accurate.

Note: I've been a registered user of what is now SixBit since 1999, starting with Auction Assistant Pro, Seller Assistant Pro, Blackthorne Pro (the eBay years), and now SixBit.  I'm not a 'cheerleader', rather, a satisfied user.  And as an ex-IT analyst & designer, I appreciate the abilities of the software and the team that created and supports it.

SixBit Questions

I believe I mis-read this question.  The SixBit license allows multiple installs provided all the computers installed are owned/operated/connected to the owner of the license.  As stated before, allowing employees to install on their computers and share a locally-networked database is fine - I set those up all the time.  But sharing your license with your buddy from across town so he can manage his account is not allowed.  Now, I've never asked about family or committed partners - my own kids have no interest in eBay (they're Amazon shoppers) and my wife and I are legally connected, so there would be no issue there.

Check out the SixBit site and ask the question of the experts - you should get a response within 24hrs and can move ahead from there.

On the question of running multiple TL accounts thru SixBit -- I'm not sure what the registered account restriction is for the TL edition of SB.  The Home-n-Hobby edition allows 2 registered eBay accounts, Small Biz gives you 5, and all editions above that are unlimited.  If I had to guess, I'd say the TL edition would be limited to 1 registered eBay account.

The good news is that you can upgrade/downgrade with no loss of data and extremely little hassle.  It's as easy as logging into the SixBit site, selecting the edition you want to change to, and then logging out.  The next time you open SB, the newly selected edition limits/features will be available.  So once you get comfortable with a single account, you can upgrade to Home & Hobby or Small Biz (or higher) to get access to more registered selling accounts.

I hope this clears things up a bit.
