Old & New listing tool issues (HTML, removing item specifics)

Looking for some help with a couple issues... over the past couple weeks we have been having an issue while listing using the normal/old desktop listing tool to create a draft with all info just not pictures and then using the iOS app to take photos for the listing. 

This method is resulting in item specifics being removed when anything gets edited on the app.

The issue does not occur when using the new/unified listing tool on desktop but it creates a new issue with HTML, it removes most of the styling and does not let us use the ebay provided "View Item Description Summary" code, it just automatically removes a lot of the HTML. 

I have tried older versions of the iOS app and different browsers but the issues still persist.

You bring up two very good points.

I have also noticed that the Unified listing tool removes the HTML mobile summary code, as does the Quick listing tool that is shown to beginners.  Both tools are designed to remove HTML, and that is the underlying problem. What is even more disconcerting is that eBay plans to eventually move all business listers (using the old SYI or advanced listing tool) into the Unified lister, where significant HTML is stripped. 

The Unified lister is intended to be more like the mobile app lister, so, one would hope those two would coexist.  However, the problem with valid  Item specifics added by the Business tool being removed in the iOS App is a bug that should be reported on the iOS forum.

What happens if you start the draft in the Unified lister, add photos in the app, and then apply your description in the Business lister?  I know it is not a desirable workaround, but am more interested in how the tools behave together in that workflow.

Potentially, that three-way process is a workaround, and could be modified to take advantage of a Seller Hub spreadsheet upload to bulk-populate the descriptions (instead of one-by-one in the Business lister) to utilize eBay's mobile summary, but that is quite a busy chore. Something is going on and we need to find out if it is the plan or a temporary glitch. eBay has given us the Mobile Summary solution, yet strips it from the Quick Lister (not unexpected) and from the Unified Lister (not desirable).  @Anonymous

Thank you so much for your reply! I have reported the issue of the item specifics being removed to merchant support but that’s usually a dead end. 

The 3 tiered approach does work but as you said is pretty cumbersome. I have also read that they plan on using the unified listing for everyone/everything this year so hopefully someone is able to help resolve the issues before that happens.

@theresellclub   WOW, THAT is not good at all.  I use Templates on a regular basis, still using the Business tool (use to be called the Advanced tool) ... no rush to switch to the unified tool until eBay fixes it ...
