Loss of Useful Resource Page / eBay Image Guidelines

There was a page from eBay Dev that was a comprehensive resource about images in listings.

https://developer.ebay.com/devzone/merchant-products/catalog-best-practices/content/images.html

The page is now gone and while I can access a version of it from the internet archive, the archived version is missing photos and formatting.

I posted this link pretty much any time somebody came to this board asking questions about photo requirements. The general eBay help pages do not have that kind of info - not even about image size.

Can you get this feedback to the eBay Developer team and ask if they can restore this page? Or is there a newer version of the page that I haven't found yet?

velvet@ebay or maybe @shipscript can help?

Hi @wastingtime101! I don't know of any direct contacts with that program but I'll see what I can find out.

@wastingtime101

Does this page contain the information you had before?

https://developer.ebay.com/Devzone/guides/features-guide/default.html#development/pictures-intro.htm...

Here is my own contribution:

Zoom and supersize depend on the size of the original photo you upload to eBay.
If the longest side of your photo is:

  • under 500 pixels, eBay will reject the photo. A larger photo can be made too small if you crop with eBay's editor.
  • under 640 pixels (500-639), neither supersize gallery nor zoom magnifier is available. The static photo may be displayed as small as 300 pixels.
  • under 800 pixels (640-799), a supersize gallery will be available, but there will be no zoom magnifier.
  • up to 1600 pixels (800-1600), both supersize gallery and zoom magnifier will be available.
  • over 1600 pixels, eBay will shrink the master image to 1600 pixels and the above will apply.

If you have used the "self-hosting" option, or use external listing software, and your externally-hosted photos failed to transfer to eBay hosting, then the zoom magnifier will not be applied, even if your photos are large enough.
