Are all of your eBay-hosted photos OK? Are they larger than 500px and are they hosted on eBay?  If so, I would not disturb them.

If some are too small or are still self-hosted, then it is possible to run some scans to locate the undersized eBay hosted photos or self-hosted photos.

If you are not worried about the eBay photos and only need to address your self-hosted photos down in the description, then you could run a scan to revise http to https within your descriptions.

We are talking about two different approaches using these online tools with File Exchange.  But, right now is not a good time for large scans.  The tools are spinning due to today's eBay letters. The best time would be on the weekend when traffic is lower.

To use the bulk scan tools, I would recommend that you retrieve your database of active listings from File Exchange and use that as in input to the scan tools.

Getting a CSV file of all my listings including the URL of my hosted picture

I used the tool last night (also made a contribution of $14 )

It worked to an extent.

As part of the reloading I am changing to a much simple template format as well

I have been using a excel spreadsheet and also a TCL programme that I have written to create the Turbo Lister file

I have modified my TCL file to get the correct template, but unfornately I did not keep all my spreadsheet over the last few years. Currenlty have over 100,000 items (photos and postcards) on Ebay, about 50,000 of them I have relisted as I still had the spreadsheet, but the others I really need the details as described earlier, all except the filename of my hosted file does not appear in the Active listing that Ebay produces

Example of new format

Example of OLD format

It would seem the hosted image only appears within the description. The image that eBay displays at the top is hosted on eBay servers. Thus, are you trying to capture the URL from your description to add to your spreadsheet?

Do all of your listing descriptions contain only one photo?

If so, we could write a filter for the Bulk Active Content Editor to extract that one photo from your descriptions and put them into CSV files that contain the item number and that photo URL. It would be up to you to merge your CSV data based on item number.

If you would like all that info in one sweep, it could probably be gotten through eBay's Trading API, which accesses the seller database associated with creating listings and processing sales.  There are freelance programmers (not me) on various job forums who can write that code for you, or you can look into eBay's API tools at https://go.developer.ebay.com/

The Bulk Active Content Editor works only with the description, so it can not retrieve that other info. But, with a photo in the description, the tool can be used to extract that one photo.

What we would do is capture the image and then throw away the rest of the description before and after that photo URL. The resulting files would contain only the photo, and could be used in your own spreadsheets.  You have different image hosts in your descriptions, so we'll generalize the match to JPG images.

This is your set of three filters, in this order:

1)

Starts with:

/(src=["\']*([^>]+?\.jpg))/i

Ends with: (leave empty)

Replacement:

AAAAAA<<+2>>BBBBBB

2)

Starts with:

<<FROM-START>>

Ends with:

AAAAAA

Replacement: (leave empty)

3)

Starts with:

BBBBBB

Ends with:

<<TO-END>>

Replacement: (leave empty)

I would recommend you use the Sandbox tool to sample a few diverse listings to make sure it captures what you need. Here is the Sandbox link to one listing with the filters preloaded for you.  Check the Filtered tab to verify the results (ignore the comment header added by that tool).

http://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/ActiveContentSandbox.htm?itm=362150739871&act=&lnk=&eby=&ssl=&is=false&vp=false&widget=&filter=%252F(src%253D%255B%2522%255C%27%255D*(%255B%255E%253E%255D%252B%253F%255C.jpg))%252Fi%7C%7CAAAAAA%253C%253C%252B2%253E%253EBBBBBB%2C%253C%253CFROM-START%253E%253E%7CAAAAAA%7C%2CBBBBBB%7C%253C%253CTO-END%253E%253E%7C

The above link can also be pasted into the Saved Job settings on the Bulk Active Content Editor to populate the same settings in that tool.

To start the Editor process, you would retrieve your list of active item numbers through File Exchange and break that CSV list into groups of 30K items, all with the same header.  That would be 4 jobs. The tool should also be able to accept a list from Turbo Lister that has only the  Item number and Site columns.

Run each of those jobs through the Bulk Active Content Editor and generate the zip download when done with each. Instead of uploading the results to File Exchange, you would keep the data for your own merging.

When you retrieve the results, I would recommend that you sort the list by URL column and look for abnormalities in the data. With that many listings, there are likely to be some misses.

And when you do run a scan of that magnitude, check the scan meter at the bottom of the Bulk Active Content Editor.   It will be purring along when the load is under 50,000 per hour, but when scan rates exceed 100,000 per hour, there will be some delay. Yesterday it was reading over 200,000 descriptions per hour (poor thing), and that would not be a good time to tackle a large scan like yours. Week ends seem to be the least busy.

I forgot to explain how to get your File Exchange list or TL list into the Editor tool.

On the Bulk Active Content Editor, open the Advanced Instructions near the bottom. The section "Already have a list" would explain the procedure for entering your own list of items. Most of the related Bulk Tools now support this.

The list is required to have at least two columns, the ItemID and the eBay SiteID.  You will notice that the summary tables produced by the tools have that same info for feeding back through the tools.

In the past, I have used the Custom Capture on the Bulk Scanner to filter for values, and have then taken that shorter list over to the Editor to perform replacements, since it is sometimes necessary to filter out prior work to avoid duplication.  This probably won't apply to your project.

@davebowman28

Is that File Exchange data or TL data? Is the file header correct?

There may be something wrong with the beginning of input file since the grid below did not even begin to build out.  Can you paste the first couple of rows from your file into a code box here? (see the </> symbol on the reply toolbar).  If not, can you send me the input file? You made a server donation, and that contains my email.
